Although it didn't look the greatest, the Baked Pork Chop with Rice at Enjoy Cafe scored big in taste. All 4 of us quite enjoyed this dish that the restaurant is known for. And the price is probably one of the cheapest in Richmond too. It is only $8.75 during lunch and $9.75 during dinner. I defnitely recommend this affordable place to anyone wants a west-meets-east dining experience at a Hong Kong style cafe. However, my quest of the best version of this childhood memory dish continues...
Besides Flo, this is my second go to place for HK cafe. Their breakfast menu has a lot of great deals for cheap. I personally love their House Fried Noodles. It has a combination of seafood, some bbq pork, chicken, fillet and veges. It basically has a bit of everything over deep fried crispy noodles (which I LOVE). As for beverage, I highly recommend their milk tea. Their milk tea is super creamy and rich in flavour. The only down side is I don't like their plastic chairs, they're not comfy :( Also, if you like pork chops, their pork chops are a bit on the fatty side. I prefer leaner meat, so I wasn't too fond of their pork chops.
For the lighter choice, I picked Xiamen Style Pan Fried Rice Noodle ($9.25). Xiamen is a coastal city in Fujian province that is very close to Taiwan, hence the culinary similarities to Taiwanese cooking – the thin rice noodles and the use of seafood. But the essence of the dish is the use of tomato sauce. It was indeed very light and refreshing. The presence of tomato is not strong but still quite assertive. But I could only finish half of the whole dish.
An Overall Excellent Meal. Food good, portions big, price OK, come before 6 P.M. or pay 1$ more. 10% off takeout. The steak combo is the best deal.
Reliable and pretty consistent. I used to frequent E-Canteen and hated when they were re-established as Enjoy. The service was bad and the food was worse. But a few months later they cleaned up their act and things were great. Then they burned down. A year later and they're back again. I've been here a few times since the re-opening and they added some new items. They aren't as busy as before but the food and service are still good (as much as can be expected from a HK cafe). You get good portions for the price and drinks are included (hot). The place is fairly clean and they have TVs up as well.
I still go there on a regular basis as the food and service are pretty consistent.
Had the shredded beef chow mein with xo sauce which was really tasty: spicy, perfectly cooked noodles, and lots of beef. I would definitely eat it again. Also had the Portuguese chicken on rice, always one of my favourites at HK places. The sauce was really creamy and so flavouful- I could eat the sauce and rice and be happy. The potatoes were browned and although I prefer large pieces of thigh meat, the strips of meat were tender. The rice was on the side, so the "baked rice" heading on the menu is a bit misleading. The sauce was so good that I was glad to have more of it instead of the rice in the dish. The service was friendly and prompt. Good place to eat comfort food and chat with a friend over iced lemon teas after.
Big portions, good price!. I ordered a 3 mix steak dinner and my friend ordered a tan tan fried chicken noodle soup. The service was adequate, the food came quickly, food was hot and yummy! The chicken steak was especially good; tender and juicy, fried to just the right texture, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. My steak dinner came with a soup and a free drink, all for around $11. It just doesn't get any better. I will be back :)
Standard, not bad, cleaner + newer. This place is pretty standard with all the other hk style cafes in Richmond.

One thing I don't get from reading all these reviews by people is why are you comparing it to E-Canteen?
No offense or anything, just stating my opinion, but E-Canteen is gone. It would make more sense to me if you made comparisons to other existing cafes out there. If Old Navy decides to buy out the Holt Renfrew location in Pacific Center, I'm sure I wouldn't be like "Compared to Holt Renfrew, this new store is subpar!"
I'm just saying.
One word: Standard.

We were overwhelmed when our plate of food arrived. Underneath the ginormous meats was our rice, mixed vegetables (corn, carrots, beans), and a tartar like sauce that accompanied the deep fried pork steak. These meats were bigger than my palm! The chicken steak was juicy with a crispy exterior as expected. I don’t normally like rib-eye steaks from HK style cafes because of the weird gummy and smooth-like texture, though I don’t mind sharing since Sleepy likes it. The pork chop was pound thin with more breading than meat, and the black pepper sauce was standard. We figured that we could have done without the pork chop, and had to pack away half of what we ate.
I like eating at hkstyle cafes, but Marv does not.. so whenever the opportunity presents itself, I will jump at the chance! Luckily for me, my friend decided to come with me to try out Enjoy Cafe 1+1! After looking through the menus, we decided to go with their set dinners as it includes a drink and soup of the day. We got our usual drinks, Iced Coffee and Iced Lemon Tea. On the right are their daily soups. I like how you get a choice between cream or asian borscht! My friend decided to go with 2 items; Pork Chop and Chicken Wings with Spaghetti . It comes with a tiny portion of vegetables(broccoli, corn and carrots). You're also given a choice of sauce. I think what I like most is how you get a choice for each step.
