Went shopping with H and his mother at Tsawassen Mills this weekend, and by the time we were done, it was already 8:30. Hou Lok is open for late night, so we took our hungry tummies here:. The honey garlic pork is one of my favourite Chinese dishes. They have a good one here, a good balance of meat and bone and lots of sauce.
○Service is good when it's not busy
○good food/ my favorite dishes are deep fried silverfish; oyster soup in rice; snail
○family friendly
○late night snack place
○good parking
○good price for quantity and quality
○would I go back? Yes
I decided to try out their late night menu as I've heard about their good prices. Each dish are $5 each. If you order over $20, they give you free congee. The portion was small of course with the price being so low. The food was average. Not bad, but nothing special. I ordered 5 dishes and one of them was silver fish with egg. The egg was very fluffy and soft, but I didn't like the shells on the silver fish (maybe it's suppose to be that way??). The fry garlic w/ watercress was a but salty in my opinion, but my bf thought it was fine. The rest of the food was fine. The service was not bad too, the lady that served us was very friendly. Overall, I would come back to this place.

Good place for late night meals after badminton in Richmond. The "da lang" dishes are priced reasonably. We ordered the chicken herbal hot pot, pickled veggie with scrambled eggs, and pan fried garlic lettuce. Everything was solid except the lettuce was a bit too salty for my liking. It opens late so would be another good option over No 9 restaurant (24 hours). Service was quick.
Cheapest da lang dishes. The amount of food and the reasonable prices keeps me coming back here for late night food! the ginger egg custard dessert is also to die for as well at a whooping price of $0.88! best late night in richmond!
Nocturnal. Been to this hole in the wall resto numerous times for laaate nite eats. great place to sober up at lol. looks can be deceiving....the derelict appearance of this eatery doesn't reflect one bit in their food. this place is known for their killer congee with all the trimmings. luv their tiny periwinkles, crispy skinned pig intestines dipped into a tangy sauce, deep fried tilapia, quadrilateral chunks of pork's blood with slivers of green onion, and ginger & scallion crab. yumz.
They have this unbeatable ‘Da Lang’ menu, on which all dishes are $5 each. ‘Da Lang’ is like late night Chinese tapas, where people snack on various smaller dishes over white congee. The dishes are small, greasy, and packed with flavours, complementing the plain and comforting white congee. Another great deal at Hou Lok is that, for every $20 spent on ordering dishes, you get a big bowl of white congee on the house! For $20, this meal is the bomb!
Hou Lok serves a lot of tasty dishes. The price is very reasonable.
We will keep visiting and highly recommend to you!
Not bad. Cant be a bit dirty at times.
Their lotus leaf crab on fried rice is a MUST! Everything else is amazing too. The absolutely stunning taste of everything more than makes up for the shoddy decor.
Great place for small Chinese dishes and late night food. Kind of an older place but adds to the charm. Food is quite good.
It's good place for dinner or late dinner. $6-8 a dish, free congee over $20 of spending. Tasty food.
