Both times I visited, I was pleasantly surprised by the positive experience i walked away with. I went once with a large group at dinner and once with just my bf for lunch. Service was fast both times and the food was great! Loved the fried chicken and fried tofu. The big portions definitely justify the costs but some might find more value in their lunch menu. I'm glad I tried out this place!
This is one of my favourite korean restaurants in richmond :) Not only I live a few blocks away from there, but the food and interior was nice! It is pretty much a traditional looking resturant with the wooden design. Even though the prices are abit over average, the quality of the food makes ot reasonable. I only need to complain about the service because it can be very slow either the place is busy or not.
Great place with ample parking and lots of seating. Kid friendly as well. Portions are decent and service is great but may need to flag down a server from time to time but they are happy to serve you. Nice menu variety. Lunch specials are a great value. Also have good dinner combos at reasonable prices. Best part - don't come out smelling like BBQ!!
One of the few places on the food strip that actually has available parking. The soft tofu dishes are great and the value is pretty decent. Seating is comfortable but service is typical for an Asian place. A great choice for a casual dining spot.
I thought I wrote a review for this place as I am a common customer. This is a place with legit korean food. I love their Lunch and dinner menus, though my family usually come here for their lunch (great menu deals). They make their own tofu. We usually come and order their seafood tofu soup (they give out a lot of tofu). Super flavourful, hot and comforting. You can ask for mild if you have low tolerance for hot food like us. So far, we haven't had a dish we were unsatisfied with yet. We also love ordering their sides. Some that we love are the fried dumplings, kimbap, tempura and seafood pancakes. Service can be slow... in sense of getting waitress's attention, but they are constantly on the move. I really think they need an extra hand sometimes, but they are super polite and doing the best they can. Super hard working folks!
While I was visiting my sister in Vancouver, I requested quite a few demanding tasks. “Bring me to good Asian restaurants!!!” And of course, Korean food was part of the Asian restaurants I was referring to. So my poor sister, with much pressure, brought to her most beloved Korean restaurant around the area, Hanok.
decent food and service. Only tried 2 items so its hard to judge how good it is. But it was pretty busy for a weekday lunch. spacious and clean restaurant
I had a MAD craving for some jajangmyeon the other day (after watching a couple of mukbangs LOL) so of course I had to go get some hehe. It's pretty much replaced my love for japchae and it's become my go to noodle dish at Korean restaurants now!! Jajangmyeon and Jjambbong (spicy korean noodle soup) is pretty common in a lot of mukbangs - I guess I've been influenced by all the Mukbangs I've been watching!! ;) So I went to Hanok on Alexandra Road - since it's pretty close by! I really like Hanok's interior, it's quite charming really - and it's surprisingly spacious - they have huge booths that can accommodate large parties of 12 - 15 people!! If I'm dining alone (like I usually do lol) I always tend to gravitate towards the lunch specials at Korean restaurants, because a la carte dishes are usually pretty pricey and the portion sizes are huge!
3 large pieces of seafood pancake, one whole grilled mackerel, a nice hot bowl of pork bone soup, bibimbap in a hot stone bowl, sides of kimchi, potatoes, and seaweed. Enough food for lunch for 2 people and leftovers to take home for dinner.
Total - $26 after tax.
Need I say more?
The food is pretty good and not too expensive for a Korean restaurant. The venue also looks very nice and is good for large groups of people. The place is also open pretty late at night, which is great if you just want to relax for a while. However, the customer service is not so good and we had to wait a long time to get more tea, refills, the bill, etc.
Overall, a good place for a meal with a large group of people, but don't expect stellar customer service.
Super good food and even better staff! We had our reso at 6, group was suuuuper late but the staff were so patient and friendly with us. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. I would definitely come back here.
We ordered delivery, hence the the texture might not be at its best, however, the seafood pancake is too thick for my liking. Beef tofu stew is alright.
Good prices, fresh ingredients and tasty korean dishes.
We've visited here a couple times since it first opened over a decade ago.
It's not a place we go by often but it is a nice place to visit for when one has the korean food cravings.
The restaurant is big, nicely decorated with traditional east asian decors of korean themes and dark wood.
Service is good and attentive.
No reason not to return!
Jajangmyun was good. They usually have nice side dishes that are refillable. Best part is that they have tons of tables and plenty of parking spots, no need to stress about waiting for either.
Been a regular here for the last 6 or 7 years now and it's always been my favourite spot for traditional Korean food (and go-to hangout spot with friends). Among my favourites are the beef soondubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), bulgogi deopbap (bulgogi rice bowl), and mul naengmyeon (cold noodles). They also provide a bunch of traditional Korean sidedishes for free--typically including kimchi, potato, bean sprouts, and fishcake--although I've also seen garlic stems, kelp salad, and a couple other options subbed in every now and then. Never officially checked, but I'm pretty confident you can also ask for free refills on those once or twice.
The menu has stayed fairly consistent over the years, although they did recently add a lot of kimbap options (see picture!) In the summer they offer several kinds of Korean cold noodles-- the vinaigre broth here is REALLY flavourful, not too sour, and with a rich meaty flavour.
The manager and servers are also very friendly and welcoming.
