Authentic Shanghai! Dumplings were amazing, far better than any I've had in town (and I've tried plenty). Every dish was excellent and the service was great. A hidden gem that we've driven past many times - highly recommend!

This is a really great place near YVR if you‘re craving some Shanghainese food. The service is a bit lousy and it’s a bit loud because of the small space, but the food is really really well done and decently priced for their portions.

Shanghai Wonderful is in  the Best Western Abercorn in Richmond. It's a comfortable room and six of us sat at a table with a big lazy susan which is great as long as you spin it slowly. Hot and Sour Soup was a good way to start on this rainy ugly day. It was thick with mushrooms and noodles and just sour enough to qualify for the name. Very nice! The main event was next and we all agreed that the soup dumplings were very good! The skin was just thick enough to hold together and the soup was tasty. Inside the little pork nugget provided a nice finish to the experience. Later we had another round but the version with crab. I believe the crab is only in the actual soup with the same pork nugget. We tried a few other items such as Green Onion Pancakes which were crisp on the outside but tasty and chewy inside.  The Beef Roll was also enjoyable. Some cucumber added a pleasant crunch and there was just enough Hoisin inside to add a bit of sweetness. The Chinese Donut was less of a hit and the only thing that we didn't actually finish. I assume this is a Shanghaiese version and were more doughy than what I am used to (usually a little closer to a Mexican churro. Am I wrong?) We had a true vegetarian in our midst and so ordered a Vegetable Chow Mein. The vegetables themselves were nicely just cooked but overall the dish was a little bit meh. Still it was nice to see some green. We tried Sticky Rice Shao Mai. I have never had anything quite like this. The rice was rich with mushrooms and meaty flavour. These went quickly!  Finally to my delight, we ordered Shen Jiang Bao. I recently discovered the existence of these tasty variations on Xiao Long Bao from Dennis The Foodie. They are the pan fried slightly leavened dough version of a soup dumpling with the same soup and pork meatball inside! These were great although to be honest, since I have never had them before, I have no benchmark. The soup was very hot inside so care was needed! I am not even sure what they are called on the English menu as someone else ordered them and they just appeared as if by magic!  We don't order dessert very often but I am glad we did this time. We had Sesame Balls in Rice Wine Soup! The interior of these balls was a tasty sesame paste and they were floating in a light, not too sweet, citrusy syrup. The best part of any meal is the company and conversation but I think we all enjoyed the food as well. Service was very good and food came out of the kitchen in a timely manner. Everything was great! The dim sum menu is a little different at this Shanghaiese restaurant than what we usually have but that just means more to explore!

For our Sunday brunch, we decided to try out Shanghai Wonderful’s ‘new’ location across the street from the Richmond Costco.  It’s not really that new, it’s just that we haven’t visited since they moved out of their former location by Landsdowne mall. We got there by 11:30am, and luckily there were still a couple of tables available so we didn’t have to wait for our table for four.

It’s my second time visiting the Shanghai Wonderful Restaurant (旺上海菜) in Richmond, located right across Costco. My first time there was for my friend’s “post-wedding treats”, recommended by the groom’s grandpa. We thought the food was good so we revisited the restaurant again for our long overdue family luncheon.

First time in this restaurant. The food was good. The food was warm and just spicy enough. Didn't know what to pick so I tried the fried shanghai noodles with chicken.

On a cold December Sunday, the extended family met for dinner at the new Shanghai Wonderful location, in the Best Western Abercorn Inn on Bridgeport road in Richmond. The restaurant was previously located in a strip mall onn Lansdowne and Cooney Road, but closed several years ago when the strip mall was sold and redeveloped.

Overall the food quality at Shanghai Wonderful Restaurant is pretty solid. Their Xiaolongbao is tasty although not super amazing. when the sum dim style lunch is more suitable for a smaller party, the dinner experience will be much better if you come with a bigger party (at least 6 people), which are the typical deals for the Shanghainese restaurants in the city.

I’ve never appreciated statutory holidays as much as I do now. Once you start the 9-5 life, you realize that holidays are few and far between. On Canada Day, I met up with R and H and their adorable baby boy. We went to my favourite Shanghai restaurant and in their usual style, we ordered so many things.

This is my favourite Shanghai restaurant in all of Vancouver. When they closed their first location, I was heart broken. I was so happy when I found out they had reopened.

I love the XLB here, and it is my No.1 pick for Shanghai food. I recommend this restaurant to everyone because I just love it that much!

My family comes here at least 4 times a month and we always order the same things: XLB, Shredded Chicken Noodle, Fried Shanghai Noodles, Pork Chop Noodle, Seafood Hot and Sour Soup, and their pan fried pork soup dumplings.

We finally tried this place after it reopened! The food was good, but it was not amazingly good like we remembered. The XLB were tasty, big and juicy and the pan fried dumplings were also great. However we found the overall taste too salty for our palettes. We also ordered the crab, scallops and egg white on broccoli with salty egg - the "salty egg" taste was great, but after a while it was too overbearing. I would recommend this place, but in my opinion, I much prefer the XLB and food at Lin's.

I visit this restaurant whenever I visit Vancouver. The food is good. Even the Cantonese dishes. The Sweet and Sour pork is up to good standard. Crispy outside and juicy inside. I am showing you two of my most favorite dishes there that you should try. The Chinese radish cake (蘿蔔絲酥餅) and the dessert, donut with red bean paste inside ( 高力豆沙). They are so good. I am looking forward to visit Vancouver again in this summer.

Our family’s go to restaurant for years. Consistently good food. Finally made back here for dine-in service after a long pandemic. Service is fast and very friendly. Food is so much better when it comes straight from the kitchen to your table. Compared to takeout; where by the time you get it home … food is lukewarm. XLB have a lot of juice and very flavourful and is a must try. We ordered the 3 course Peking Duck. Menu says 2 course but you can order it with the soup for an extra $13. The Peking Duck came with 12 pastry wraps. All three courses were very good. Our favourite dish here is the Dry Ginger Beef. Deep fried strips of ginger beef coated with a sweet spicy sauce.

One of favorite Shanghai cuisine restaurant in Vancouver. All dishes never disappoint us each time we come here. Kids loves Shanghai steam bun, meat stired with sticky rice , meanwhile beef and bean curve soup . Very suitable for family and friends gathering. Try here if you love to taste Shanghai cuisine .

Location is good if you are staying in the hotels nearby. There are not much restaurants around if you do not drive. There are a good variety to choose from and they are all nicely made. Portion is decent but not big for the price. If you want value for money, they are not as good as other Chinese restaurants around Central Richmond.

Authentic Chinese Food with huge portions. Had dinner with 5 family members but portions could have fed 10 of us. Every dish is cooked upon order. Ordered tofu with seafood, pork knuckles with vegetables, special fried noodles, xo fried rice and tomato soup with salted vegetables. On hindsight, should have ordered only one less dish. Worth a visit if you want good Chinese food near Holiday Inn Express Hotel.

This is the place where we always go for shanghai dim sum. Turnip cakes, sticky rice roll and soya milk are the must try items. Although the XLB is not the best in town but it's worth to try too. Went there many times and food quality is consistent. Good service and the waitresses are very attentive. It would be better if the manager can improve his communication skills.
