Dined here on Aug 20. Found this place by chance as we walked along Saint-Paul. We were looking for a patio setting that allowed our dog. The owner, Alex, went out of his way to find us a seat to accommodate our pet. This simple gesture was the start of a great dining experience.
The food! The food! Our meals were fabulous. The ingredients were all fresh. In fact, much of the items were from the owners' home areas in Quebec. We started with poutine, which was delicious. Vey well prepared- not sopping with gravy. We enjoyed the flavour of the local potatoes.
Main courses were tourtière, which was filled to the brim with meat and veggies; and the scallops, which the chef created off-menu. Presentation was very nice and portions were plentiful. We did not have room for dessert- which also looked wonderful.
The service was awesome- a personal touch from Bruno to help us translate the menu into English and suggest the scallop special.
I highly recommend this restaurant!!
This is an unbelievable restaurant. We happened upon it by chance as we were walking to our hotel. The menu is superb and all completely locally sourced from around Quebec and especially the great Saguenay Lac-St-Jean region. I had the traditional tourtiere and my husband had magret de canard..both were superb. We both enjoyed a couple of local beers as well. After the main course we were full but still managed to leave some room for the traditional blueberry pie made with the famous Lac-St-Jean wild blueberries. It was topped with whipped cream a chocolate ganache. The service ( all done that night by one of owners) was exceptional and the atmosphere, including all local Quebec music smoothly streaming out of the speakers, was a nice touch. We both loved this place and are already planning our next visit when we head back to Quebec in June..when the menu will change to match the season the owner said. Highly recommend.
This is one of the great Quebec City restaurants if you want fancy/re-worked traditional local food. The quality/price is perfect you won't be disappointed. The choice of local beer is great and they do fancy cocktails with everything from scratch and mostly local alcohol. The place is well kept and the decorations makes it looks like an old traditional Quebecer shack. Keep up the good work.
Two words... La La!
Great food, nice cozy French Canadian vibe and good prices. A little escape with the combination of music and wood barn style decor. Owner is really down to earth and great host.
The soup and salads are delicious! The atmosphere is cool and rustic. Great place to grab something healthy or sit outside.
C'est magnifique! And for those of us that have to Google how to say it was magnificent, the staff speak fluent English!!! The soup & salad, the duck & pork, and the maple syrup cake were awesome. Plus a nice micro brew. You missed out if you didn't visit.
This restaurant, being preeminent in local and freshly cooked cuisine worked out exceptionally well for children and adults within our group of four. We found multifarious dishes for vegetarian and meat-eating tastes, and took delight in chef’s choices of the day (or the hour, as we were informed). :) One thing to keep in mind is the wait time - as everything gets prepared individually for guests, it takes time.
Super good food with super friendly waiter. I was impressed by how much blueberries in the blueberry pie!!!
Food and service were outstanding. They were very accommodating in speaking to us in English and making sure we understood everything about the menu. The tortiere and pudding is a must try.
The best dinner I've ever had The scallops were fabulous fresh and melting in my mouth it was perfect with vin blac chardonnay I enjoyed the dinner a lot!
