Outstanding food and Service. The menu is great and the dishes are delicious a must do when in Ottawa
Great food- really enjoyed the steak salad! Awesome staff that was quick to get my drink order and extremely welcoming ! Love coming here and will be back.
Been to this place a couple of times. Service was Good. Overall Food was decent and especially their Fish and Chips was excellent. Not too many options for beer but what ever options they had were decent enough. Overall experience was good.
Fantastic as always!. I've been going to this Barley Mow location for the past 10+ years, the biggest reason is the staff. Super friendly, courteous and fun! The place is generally busy at lunch for a good reason - the food is great. Not your standard "pub fare".
It would seem the menu has been updated lately, and they have improved on an already great offering.
It's clean, plenty of TV's and great service. Why even waste your time with the Handyman Pub on March Rd!?!
Can the wait staff overcome the rep?. Over the past couple of years I have been coming to The Mow for lunch on a semifrequent basis. I will admit that I hoped that some of the menu items were the same as another location, but sadly not. No buggy though.
The food? Pub favourites can be found and enviable enough. I have no issues with the food on the whole.
The price? I find some items to be a little more than I would like, but I am frugal.
The staff? I love them. Seriously. They have always been good to me... In fact very good to those I have brought in. They welcome me in, seat me when I wait, or I just grab a seat and they come and chat me up. They know how to treat people like people.
And I really love the ambiance...
Staff are friendly and knowledgable, eager to make menu suggestions if you're feeling indecisive.
A great atmosphere! Staff is exceptional, very friendly and great service. This is a great spot for a workday lunch! Just wish they'd change the buns for the burgers.
I have a friend who's parents live close to the barley mow in Kanata, I have visited a couple of times before but I was not impressed by the food or service! However what a difference !! Last time I was there , late august, I had a burger that just seemed to be thrown together with cold fries. This time I opted for the smoked salmon, woow! It was to die for! Presented beautifully on a small board with fresh bread and cream cheese. The server was lovely she was very patient and helpful when ordering both food and drinks! Overall I had a great experience this time around and will look forward to returning with more friends and family :)
Good Place for Pub Food. I have been going to the Barley Mow Kanata for probably 16 years now. Yes it has some slow days and it's not always packed but the staff has always been nice when I was there. I usually order the wraps or wings... I have never had a problem with any of the meals. A lot of people go there after work so its usually busy then and on St. Patty's day. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the basic pub food and beer.
I apologize Blair, I assume you are the father of Tim Beadle, I sent Tim an apology email and actual service times from our camera times and I would assumed, he would have told you. Although your timeline had a discrepancy, as shown with our in house camera system, I still felt that a full refund would be in order since Tim took the time to give his feedback. As I told Tim, feedback is very important to us. Realizing you are not to computer savvy, if you would like to meet to discuss, I would gladly buy you lunch. Most of the reviews I have read here, are complaints about wait times for food, and problems with discounted food.
I agree that that I personally have waited longer than average for my food at the Stittsville location. But what I received when it arrived was more than expected. Suggested by my bartender, he pointed me in the direction of a filet mignon beef skewer. Absolutely delicious. This leads me to believe that those coming in for 1c wings, etc aren't looking for a pub experience, they're looking to be cheap.
Try some of the higher end items, I wasn't disappointed, or ask the opinion of your waiter/waitress.
In my humble opinion, I love pubs, but I feel that this area has been spoiled by the corporate chains knowing that if they whine enough, they are going to get something for free.
That being said, the place isn't perfect, but it definitely is not "WORST EVER" or however you hip cats say it these days.
Wow!. This has been my fourth time to the pub. I just moved from up north. I have loved this place from day one. It's small, but makes for a very cozy feel. My wife is very happy, cause it clean, unlike most local pubs in neighbourhoods. We haven't tried the whole menu, yet, but what we have has been great. I definitely recommend this place for a great night out with the wife.
