Meadows Diner is a small casual diner where there was one lady working behind the counter. We were anxious to get a few bites in before having to arrive at Dows Lake Pavilion to get ready for the practice. Luckily, the food did arrive within 3 minutes or so.
Family meal, fun and delicious. I took my wife and kids for a spring break luncheon and we had a great time. The service was super friendly and the food delicious. My wife is an Eggs Benedict fan and connoisseur, so she tried their "Eggs Benny". She loved it. The rest of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals as well. My portion was so big (The Blue Collar), I had to take the pancakes to go. They were delicious at home even though they were reheated. My teenage son could not finish his plate either, which is saying a lot. The day we were there, a customer was going on and on how tasty his Shepperd's pie was. A great family atmosphere with the regulars, and most importantly the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely return.
The "secret" Eggs Benedict (Benny) Place. By writing this review I realize I run the risk of soon not being able to just walk in on a Saturday (open at 7:30) or Sunday (open at 8:00) morning after exercising to get the best Eggs Benedict in Ottawa, but I can't stand some of the unfair reviews below. This place is fabulous. OK, it could use a fresh coat of paint on the inside, and maybe a few more decorations on the wall, but, c'mon, People - are you here for the food or the decorations? There is nothing "unclean" about this place. It's a Diner. Not some Yuppie, Hipster, See and Be Seen place. You're here for a scrumptious Benny that comes with potatoes on the side (not beans. Yuck) and a fruit cup that you can share with someone, who is eyeing your plate and is kicking themselves for not getting a Benny, and still be full. Or maybe you have another fave breakfast dish. You don't have to share. And I don't want to wait until 10:00 on a Sunday (only) for a Benny. You can get a Benny any day they're open, all the time. I'm hungry after my walk. So, get over your "I only eat in a place that has Mega-chain, blah-blah decor" and get over here for breakfast. This place has Soul. Perhaps you remember the comfort of your Mom's kitchen or a nice kitchen somewhere else? And for goodness sake, tell the guys serving you and cooking your food how good your breakfast was. It will make both of you feel better to express some gratitude. There is nothing slow about the service - it is just a bit slower. This is not hyperactive McDonalds. People come here to read the paper and meet with their friends. Pretend you're in Europe eating in a sidewalk cafe, Chill Out, and fill your stomach and your Soul. Just sayin'.
