Probably one of the more famous and well known Ottawa landmark restaurants that has hung in there. Sports bar meets bar and grill, with very good food and a varied menu. The nachos were good (ask for extra layered cheese) and the mushroom soup I only had once, was incredible. Service was friendly at both the bar and the outside patio.
Great place to watch the game... the appetizers are good and the staff is friendly! The atmosphere is a bit dark for my taste and could use a bit of improvement.
I came here for dinner and drinks with some friends Saturday, and I had pretty low expectations, but I was quite impressed.
I tried their club sandwich with a Caesar salad. The salad had roasted cloves of garlic in it, and instead of croutons, it had garlic crostinis, as well as real crumbled bacon.
Their club was shaved chicken or turkey breast (I forget which), with bacon, lettuce, tomato and garlic mayo, which was quite good.
The service was on point, very efficient and we were regularly checked on for drinks.
I'll definitely be returning.
Nice!. Went on a Friday night. Great band was covering a bunch of awesome 90s songs. I had a trusty Strongbow but my friend loves their Cesars (garnished with a spicy pickled bean). Kitchen open until 1. Food was great.

I just had the best hamburger and fries that I've ever had in Ottawa!! I had a Blazin Burger with spicy onions and bacon and a side of Animal Fries that were smothered with ( I think) the same bacon and onions, like a Russian dressing and a warm 7/11 nacho cheese sauce. I wouldn't normally feel the need to comment on a burger and fries but this was very good.
Enjoyed takeout order. Got the chicken-chorizo jambalaya for lunch, was tasty. A little heavy on sauce, but was still good.
Have the District 10. Best McChicken sandwich you will ever have.
Basic Pub. This was a good basic pub, but as someone really into craft beer, it didn't quite do it for me.
Three of us went to the James Street Pub on Saturday afternoon for a few drinks and to relieve a little stress from a hard week of work. We were greeted with a warm smile, sat down, ordered our drinks and they were delivered, ice cold within minutes. They have it right. Instant stress relief. Not once did we have to sit with an empty glass in front of us. All of the staff were friendly. Food was nice and hot and yummy. I hope they keep up the good work. Cheers!!!
I used to live on James St. and it was my daily go to pub about 30 years ago. I had a craving for wings, so decided to drop by abd pick some up. Was greeted by a great server who took my order and as I looked around, the memories flooded back, of all the good times I had had there in my younger days. The wings arrived promptly and were delicious, not quite as good as I remember, but certainly better than most.
I decided to visit the James Street Pub after work yesterday to enjoy the beautiful weather. I called earlier in the day to see if they offered non-alcoholic beer and was delighted that they did. The service was exceptional and the patio was full of patrons. It brought back wonderful memories of when I first moved to Ottawa in 2004. Thank you for a wonderful, nostalgic experience.
They redid the seats making them much more comfortable. Good place for watching sports. Food is traditional pub food. Servers are nice.
Great neighbourhood pub with a friendly atmosphere. Decent beer selection, good food, large portions, sports friendly and they pour a proper pint (pic attached). They support live music and they also have a nice size patio, with misters going, to keep you cool, on the really hot days.
A nice little place downtown to go for a drink with friends and family. The food is surprisingly delicious!!! We had fish that was deliciously crispy on the outside and tender and flaky on the inside. Food service was lightning fast despite our large group. I’ll also give it up to the patrons who were more helpful than the establishment! I nice man saw me standing at the door and let me know that’s not how it’s done! Ya gotta holler! LOL! Parking is available and the prices are decent. I would definitely go back with another group.
