One of my favorite pubs in Ottawa. Great atmosphere, excellent beer selection and an awesome place to catch some of the best live music in the city.

I LOVE THIS BAR!Went in the other night for a drink and a bite of some pub grub with the misses, absolutely amazing. We stayed much later than expected because of the music. The Telegrams. The sound was perfect, not sure who the sound guy was but they totally nailed it. Atmosphere is great, excellent beer selection. Will be going back again for sure.Try the Gatineau Hipster, a little messy, but oh boy is it worth it.
Slow food = free drinks! So, I went in on a Thursday with a friend, we ordered food soon after arriving, and after waiting a little while for a food, our waitress apologized for the delay, that they would put a rush on it. Then she asked us "Can I buy you a beer?" I accepted, then our food came 20 minutes later, we stayed, ate, drank, and when we paid our bills, neither the beer I'd ordered nor the one offered me were on the bill, I just paid for food. Food was great by the way, hot and delicious. I'd go back. The live music was good and I was able to have a conversation whilst it was going on, not too loud.
Nicely Surprised. I just recently discovered Irene's and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Very good pub food, with extra attention to presentation which is a nice touch. The Poutine is incredibly good, seems that other places have forgotten that Poutine uses REAL CURDS, not shredded cheese!
Seem to have a lot going on music-wise which isn't necessarily my thing but they have obviously found their niche and are serving it well.
Daily soup and sandwich specials, no drink specials - just how it should be done.
Lots of beers on tap.

Lovely!. Irene's is the perfect little neighbourhood pub.
It has a really nice patio at the back, and... cider on tap. Perfect.
Oh, and you order dinner along the way....
Came here with some friends for lunch. Great atmosphere for music, definitely can get different genres you don't normally see like bluegrass or folk and the musicians are pretty great! Servers were very friendly and the food was fantastic. Had the Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with house salad. The sandwich was crispy but not greasy or oily, juicy and not dry, not too heavily breaded and seasoned really nicely. Lots of craft beer available and able to pay by tap. Will go back next time I'm in town!

Brisket sandwich - (4.4/5)
Sandwich was HUGE, smoked in house and had good flavor. Paired amazing with one of the local ottawa hot sauces they have at the tables.

Good sizes portion, great tasting bread and cheese.
Great experience all around! Wonderful coffee! Broccoli & Cheddar soup was delicious! The staff was friendly and very helpful given a strange request that was made. Great lunch on a beautiful spring day.
Yummy brunch, lovely courtyard. Dog-friendly patio! Tater tots are so good and fluffy. Generally a good atmosphere for dining. I'm sad their mac n' cheese is no longer on the menu though. It was the best in the city!
Great local bar, which use to be at back & Sunnyside but is now north of Landsdown Park, 882 bank I believe. Cover charge was a little steep, good times.
Fast and curteous service, cold beer, delicious food, and - live entertainment! We'll be back! Thank you for a fun night.
When you hear that an institution has new owners and new management, you may be left with questions.
A visit to one of the area’s best courtyard patios, and you will quickly find that all that you’ll be in good hands.
The beer selection continues to have breadth for all tastes and fancies.
The reworked menu will surely evolve and grow. That said - the Mac-Attack Cheeseburger was spot on! The accompanying fires - crispy, golden.
The service (many thanks Sean) was engaging, friendly and caring.
Great patio secluded from the street. Good selection of craft beer. Quick friendly service. My chicken sandwich was not great but my friend s fish and chips looked better.
