We called late afternoon for a reservation on a Saturday night. That alone should tell you that we ought to have had a less than ideal chance at a wonderful anniversary supper. Instead, we had one of the most beautiful supper experiences ever.
The only reservations left were two bar seats, right at the end, facing the kitchen. Some might have turned those seats down -- we didn't. And since last night we've already recommended to friends to reserve, and *request* those seats.
To begin, we decided to create our own flights from the compellingly extensive beer menu -- it was fun and tasty, and we discovered some very interesting brews.
Between the attention of the head chef, the care of the server, and the wonderful time we had chatting with, and watching the chef plating the meals as they were prepared -- our time there was perfect. And the food!!! I can hardly tell you how delicious our meals were: I had the char and my husband had the tenderloin. *You must eat here.*
To top off our experience, we were treated to a not-yet-on-the-menu dessert of cheesecake. (To call it a cheesecake is completely misleading. It was a delicious, beautiful plate of sweetness.) What a generous gift.
Thanks to the whole staff who took such amazing care of us. We look forward to our next experience there.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant experience. Really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The beer menu is extensive and well curated. I tried 5 beers and liked them all and I love that they have different sizes so you can sample a bunch. The food menu is fun and interesting and changes with what's seasonally available. I had the charcuterie, the agnolotti and the brownie with gelato. I wish the chartcuterie came with larger portions of meat, but it was otherwise delicious and the selection was varied and fun and came with lots of great accompaniments and the other two dishes were unique and very tasty. The staff was sooooo friendly. They were incredibly attentive to the point that one of them ran after us after we left because I accidentally left my broach and really made the experience great. And the manager was so nice! Both in helping me sort something out an just generally walking around the restaurant and helping out wherever he could. I would seriously recommend this restaurant to any foodie and anyone who enjoys craft beers.
That #charcuterie platter was among my best food experiences in Ottawa for the past year. The Zacharie Cloutier cheese and pickled goodies moved me. Amazing place for a #sourhead (someone who likes sour beers).
