Review Bar Lupulus - Ottawa

Britney Amarica
Bar Lupulus is by far one of the best restaurants in Ottawa. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly, and the food is AMAZING. They definitely serve the best charcuterie in the area. The chef is a master with sauces and pickles and the selections are wonderful (mmm duck!). Even the sourdough crackers are better than any other crackers I’ve ever had! Everything is fresh and delicious and every dish is super well thought out. The menu changes often, so there is always something new to try and everything (including all the pasta and bread) is made in house! The beer list is the best in town (so many awesome sours!) and the cocktails are delicious and creative. This is also the place for you if you’re into funky wines. The atmosphere is lovely - lighting, music and all. Can’t wait for the stunning patio to reopen! Definitely highly recommend.

Bar Lupulus was nice. The server was the sweetest and helpful, and the restaurant had a nice setting. The cocktail was suggested by the server which suited my taste very well. I would have to say their Large Plate is not so large - to keep in mind for future visitors! It was delicious nonetheless!

Enjoyed everything about this meal. Service was good, but the food would bring me back. We enjoyed the beverages and the variety of beers. The short rib in particular was incredible. The dessert was just okay, as was the crab dish. But the duck starter was exceptional.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile and was not disappointed. Excellent cocktail, they also had a very extensive tap list. Everything we ate was delicious! Good date night! We will definitely be returning.

We were looking for a spot that decided to keep vaccination requirements, and found Bar Lupulus. I have been meaning to try it, and can't explain how happy I am that we finally did. Atmosphere: fabulous Food: wonderful for sharing (we only got small plates) Service: fantastic. Server had us laughing and smiling the moment we walked in the door We'll be back!!

Follow my food blog on Instagram for restaurant reviews: @mimi.munches! 💖 I want to share my favourite spot in @wellington_west with you guys! ❤️Every time I've been to @bar_lupulus , it has blown me away. Each time I've gone, I've also had amazing company too! 🥰The interiors are seriously cozy, the food is DELICIOUS, the service is excellent, and what's most unique to me is that they offer 4oz sizes drafts of a TON of beers/ciders - I can sample a huge variety at a reasonable price! . I went with my friend @lusiisun and we had an amazing time. She took this awesome photo 📸! My stomach always hurts from laughing with you! ☺️ The drinks 🍺 I tried this time were: Nanaimo Imperial Stout - Double Pastry Stout with Toasted Coconut (10% ABV!), from @bellwoodsbeer WHOA. This stout was SMOOTH. I love coconut 🥥 . Zhuzh (Strawberry) - Strawberry 🍓 Farmhous Ale (3.2% ABV), @matronfinebeer . Funkhaus Cider (7% ABV) - from @farmgatecider . Vines (No. 6) - American Wild Ale w/Chardonnay (9.3% ABV), from Bellwoods Brewery . In my opinion, the best appetizer to have with any drinks is a charcuterie board - theirs has crackers, pickles, and preserves, and meats and cheeses are $8 each! We chose: Meats :🍖 Cured trout (elderflower) Smoked duck proscuitto (sumac/lightly smoked) . Cheeses: 🧀 Beau's Abbey (semi-soft beer washed abbey style cheese) Amazing Grey (hard goat's milk cheese) . For mains, these are the dishes we tried: . Charcoal Grilled Octopus 🐙(amarosa potatoes, baby leeks, green romesco, wild rose, vinaigrette, field sorrel, hazelnut) $26 (The octopus was so tender)! . Slow Roasted Lamb 🐑(miso glazed lamb, "creamed" sweet corn, black garlic salsa, sour corn, crispy garlic) $28 (I thought I would like the octopus more, but I was blown away by how tender the meat was here! We both found the sweet corn went really well with the lamb). . The only thing I would change is to reserve early and try to get a seat on their backyard patio, that I've been wanting to try forever 🥺; but I think that'll have to wait until next year!

Named one of Canada's Best 100 in 2021, it's not surprising that Bar Lupulus is amazing. Its upscale ambience yet unpretentious atmosphere continues to attract a crowd. However, a fan since 2018, I love Lupulus for a different reason - Anthony Spagnolo's ability to assemble a team who continually reinvents the restaurant. Whether it's Chef Lewis Robinson pairing wildly opposing flavours with innovative techniques, Marc Bosse crafting both classic cocktails and inspired concoctions, or Graham Larose bursting with excitement as he explains a new dish, everyone exudes the enthusiasm of contributing to something great. Offering some of the best value in the city, I go regularly knowing that each outing will be a unique and special experience. This place deserves all the recognition it has gained.

Expensive cocktails but food was gorgeous, delicious and worth it. Had the scallops, which were served cold with a delicious sauce, strongly recommended. Good for sharing. Also had the paw paw mousse and Graham cracker iced cream. Also delicious and really interesting. Customer service was excellent. The staff make you feel like they are there for you and are very knowledgeable about their food. Cocktails were interesting, I couldn't decide and had the staff recommend two. They were definitely different then cocktails I have tried before, and I quite enjoyed the surprise. Also, vaccinations are still required, so you know they are making sure to keep their staff and other patrons safer. Overall excellent experience and I will be returning. We called late afternoon for a reservation on a Saturday night. That alone should tell you that we ought to have had a less than ideal chance at a wonderful anniversary supper. Instead, we had one of the most beautiful supper experiences ever. The only reservations left were two bar seats, right at the end, facing the kitchen. Some might have turned those seats down -- we didn't. And since last night we've already recommended to friends to reserve, and *request* those seats. To begin, we decided to create our own flights from the compellingly extensive beer menu -- it was fun and tasty, and we discovered some very interesting brews. Between the attention of the head chef, the care of the server, and the wonderful time we had chatting with, and watching the chef plating the meals as they were prepared -- our time there was perfect. And the food!!! I can hardly tell you how delicious our meals were: I had the char and my husband had the tenderloin. *You must eat here.* To top off our experience, we were treated to a not-yet-on-the-menu dessert of cheesecake. (To call it a cheesecake is completely misleading. It was a delicious, beautiful plate of sweetness.) What a generous gift. Thanks to the whole staff who took such amazing care of us. We look forward to our next experience there.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant experience. Really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The beer menu is extensive and well curated. I tried 5 beers and liked them all and I love that they have different sizes so you can sample a bunch. The food menu is fun and interesting and changes with what's seasonally available. I had the charcuterie, the agnolotti and the brownie with gelato. I wish the chartcuterie came with larger portions of meat, but it was otherwise delicious and the selection was varied and fun and came with lots of great accompaniments and the other two dishes were unique and very tasty. The staff was sooooo friendly. They were incredibly attentive to the point that one of them ran after us after we left because I accidentally left my broach and really made the experience great. And the manager was so nice! Both in helping me sort something out an just generally walking around the restaurant and helping out wherever he could. I would seriously recommend this restaurant to any foodie and anyone who enjoys craft beers.

That #charcuterie platter was among my best food experiences in Ottawa for the past year. The Zacharie Cloutier cheese and pickled goodies moved me. Amazing place for a #sourhead (someone who likes sour beers).

I’ve now been twice. I really enjoy the smaller pours; you get to try more. Food has been spot-on, and the fact they cater to the larger drinking crowd with ciders, wine, and other cocktails (like Caesars), makes them a very, very busy spot. Service has been attentive and friendly. Highly recommend making reservations; otherwise, you might be disappointed.

Celebrated a birthday at Lupulus yesterday and had a lovely time. Although the place was packed, as it usually is, service was attentive, friendly and quick. The beer list (taps and bottles) is one of the best in Ottawa. The staff really make customers feel welcome and appreciated. Overall a great evening!

I just had dinner there tonight. The staff was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The food was awesome. We had the charcuterie, lamb carpaccio, tartar and ox tail. Amazing. Great drink pairings as well. Great people, great atmosphere. I highly recommend.

This restaurant is my new favourite spot. Service was friendly and knowledgeable as suggested many great beers. Only had the charcuterie board but was impressed with size and pairings. Being a huge beer nerd, the best part was the 4oz pours to be able to taste a majority of their taps in one sitting. Will be back!

As Craft Beer aficionados, we have to say that this is one of the greatest experiences we have ever had. We sampled 11 of the 21 beers on tap and devoured their charcuterie. Staff are knowledgable and attentive. Best to make reservations.

Quickly becoming one of my favourite spots in Hintonburg.. The have a expansive and well thought out selection of beer both on tap and in bottles, the staff have consistently been friendly and knowledgeable, and there's always something delicious to nosh on. The charcuterie is always a great bet - get the staff to select and you'll always get something well paired to what's poured. Make reservations if you want to be sure you'll get a seat.

Came in tonight without a reservation. We were told that we could have a table but needed to be done by 9 for the next reservation. All fine but clearly no one told our waiter who served us drinks and then ignored us for the next 30 minute . We chose to go some where else rather than be kicked out mid meal. Not sure about the service here

Industrial with Class!! Chef has an incredible palate, and the beverage offerings are extensive. Do NOT miss the pumpkin salad
