The best ribs in town. We arrived late, and because of the Craft Beer Festival a short walk away, they were running out of product. Our trio involved BBQ chicken drumsticks, and 4 ribs each. We got 4 ribs as they were out of pulled pork, beef brisket, and jackfruit. I could understand a small place running out of stock. The food we did get(the ribs, chicken, BBQ beans, tater tots, mac n cheese, coleslaw, pecan tart, and deep fried cornbread) Everything was delicious. The ribs are dry rubbed. You can slather it in sauce if you want. I tried it dry and sauced. The ribs were juicy, and tender. The meat pulled from the bone easily. The service was great too. We now have a reason to travel by OC Transpo from the West End(near Algonquin College) to Orleans for the best BBQ in town
Our family of six adults got the family platter (4.5 lbs meat, 3 shareable sides, 4 desserts), along with one appetizer (deep-fried pickles), another shareable side (garlic mashed potatoes), and 8 pork ribs. We chose brisket, pulled pork, and chicken for our meats, with sides of cornbread, fries, and smoked beans, and pecan tarts for dessert. Everything was fantastic. The meats were all juicy and delicious, and there was a nice variety of sauces if you wanted anything on top. The sides were also really good, especially the beans. The pecan tarts were tasty; the only thing I might suggest is being able to get four different desserts instead of them all having to be the same. All ìn all, though, we loved Meatings, and will definitely return. Thanks for the excellent meal and friendly service!
Food at Meatings is always delicious. I love the variety and different combination and sids options. There is something for everyone!
Great service and great food. My favourites are the brisket and ribs. Pair it with tots and it’s a masterpiece. Returning customer who will keep doing so.
Excellent, fall-off-the-bone BBQ! Honestly some of the best I've ever had (and I used to live in Texas where we KNOW bbq)! The cornbread is delicious as well. Meatings is hardly cheap so be prepared to throw out some $$$ (odd for so casual a restaurant) but the good thing is they give you big portions, so save yourself money and share a plate.
Ribs & Brisket: tender, juicy, Brisket melts in your mouth, properly salted with spices with a hint of sweetness. I would prefer dry tub without BBQ sauce simply because the sauce is too sweet and sour to me
Side of mac and cheese, smoked beans: they are standard by themselves but I really enjoyed mix them up and eat together, the sweetness in the beans is perfect to cut the heavy cheesy feeling of the mac and cheese
What a great surprise to have this in Orleans! We had a couple of samplers. Everything was tender and flavorful. The cornbread as someone had pointed out was dry though even with the generous portion. The sauce was tart and worked well against the smoke. The tater tots were crispy. The ribs were falling off the bone. The chicken was tender a moist. The pineapple was sweet and juicy. This is a gem of a place and we are lucky to have them here.
The first and most obvious thing when walking in to Meatings is the decor. They put a lot of thought and time into it no doubt. It was a pleasant surprise.
Next step is service. The person at the cash was welcoming: enquired how I heard about the place, if I live in the area... and took the time to explain how it works since it was my first time there. I noticed the crew at the back that was working hard and seemed very focused.
The best part was the food. I ended up getting a sampler: ribs, chicken, smoked beans, corn bread, tart and pink lemonade. Everything tasted good although the cornbread was a bit too dry. The grilled lemon added a nice touch to the pink lemonade.
The real highlight of my plate was the ribs: fall off the bone, smoked to perfection, not too sweet, tender and juicy. It was exquisite. The best I've had so far.
I will definitely be going back for more ribs and to try other items on the menu.
Had the pulled pork on a bun and the mac n cheese side. Authentic slow and low BBQ for sure. Can't wait to go back and try the other menu items. Well priced and just the right food amount. Definitely a must try if you are in Orleans.
First time trying Meatings and thought the food was fantastic. Nicely tender smoked meats. Pulled pork was juicy still and the brisket was nicely seasoned and mid fatty without being salty. Nice deck out front to sit and eat. Went on a weeknight and it wasn't busy so plenty of space to relax. Good canned beer selection as well!
Amazing food & superb service as always.
The only two knocks for me were the beer tap availability and the lack of indoor seating. They say they have beers on tap but they only had 1 “tap” (more of a redneck tap - cooler with hose and pour spout) and that tap wasn’t working.
Won’t stop me from going back though as the food is by far the main attraction!! :)
Amazing bbq food and generous portions! The owner is very personable. The location is a bit difficult to find, it's off of a quiet road at the back of the building. The inside seating was very limited, but I heard they've recently expanded that. Based on my experience last time, I would do take out here rather than dine in.
We visited this place looking for some good classic BBQ and this place delivers. We had a sample platter for 2: beef brisket, pulled pork, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread. Portions were good and staff was very friendly. We would come here again!
We have been enjoying Meatings BBQ for a couple of years now, and when it came time to plan our backyard wedding there was no doubt that we would have Meatings cater it and that our guests would be treated to an amazing meal. Matt and his staff are friendly and courteous, and go out of their way to provide top notch service. Lydia, their wedding coordinator, was patient and kind, especially while we made frequent changes due to the pandemic, and she always made time to answer any questions we had. The food was delicious and our guests have not stopped talking about it - we would give them 10 stars if we could! Thank you so much for being a part of our wedding and going above and beyond for us. We will continue to highly recommend Meatings.
Amazing barbecue place that you can tell have mastered their craft. Great food and very welcoming staff. Try their sandwiches! They’re amazing!
Meatings catered our private event last night and I have to say, it was a truly incredible experience. The only thing better than the quality of the food, was the quality of the whole Meatings team who made sure that every person there had a tremendous meal.
I mean where else can you get A5 Waygu tartar, Iberico pork, waygu beef brisket, and so many other insane dishes all in the span of one evening.
Either hire Meatings, or go visit them on the east end. You won’t regret it!
Meatings on Canotek is incredible! The best restaurant around, but the disappointed with the restaurant in Sensplex. Ordered nachos ($17) and added brisket for $6 and there was a few tiny bits. We will wait until the summer to go back to Canotek.
