The other day, my dad had the entire day off!! Getting time off from work is a rarity for him. So we decided to take advantage of the fact and went on a day trip to Deep Cove!! Since he's so busy, spending a day with him definitely felt like a treat!. I rarely go to North Van because I'm usually not in the mood to transit that far...but if I could, I would go every week!! North Van is so beautiful! :D
When lunch time rolled around, I asked my dad what he wanted to eat...to which he replied "white people food." Yes...he refers to anything that's not asian as "white people -insert noun here-" (Don't get offended.)
We came across this really cute restaurant with an open patio - my dad took one look at the menu ($17 for a pasta dish) and bolted. Expensive food doesn't sit well with him.
In the end, we settled on Osaka Sushi, because he wanted something "substantial." Instead of sitting inside, we grabbed a seat on the patio! They were advertising this really cool frozen beer slushy, it looked like it had whip cream on top!! (I've never heard of such a thing...but then again, I'm not much of a drinker.)
My dad took one look at the menu and ordered his signature "lunch box." Anything other than a lunch box (combo) isn't an option. My dad never finishes his lunch box, but he did this time! That's saying something! All in all, Osaka Sushi really delivered (which I definitely wasn't expecting, given the location.)
A restaurant on the corner of Gallant Avenue and Burns Avenue, it’s a comfy Japanese restaurant with a patio on the side. Going through a curtain of black nets (I’m assuming to bring in fresh air, but to keep the bugs out), we were greeted by a nice staff – most of them seemed Korean.
I enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant. Sushi quality was good and fish was fresh. Their frozen beer was refreshing never seen beer like that :)
Newly renovated and looking great!
The negitoro was fresh and delicious, and the dynamite and yam rolls were the best I've ever had!
The dragon roll is also worth trying, with prawn tempura inside and spicy tuna sash on top (not very spicy)... Can't wait to go back and try some of the hot dishes!
Fantastic!. New owners have created a "must go there" establishment. This is now easily the best sushi restaurant on the North Shore. The food is fresh and generous, and the service is prompt and polite. Be sure to try their special rolls and wonderful cones!!
The new management has done it some major good. One of the better sushi places in the lower mainland—and there are a ton. The service is great and the food is excellent—have the dragon rolls!
Good. Try the special dishes like KFC, spicy BBQ chicken etc. also the tempura fries are excellent.
Not the best but worth to try.. If you are looking for the best rolls in Vancouver, I would not recommand this restaurant.
However! If you are looking for special rolls which you haven't experienced before, I'll highly recommand iti.
They have some unique rolls and the taste is good enough.
We are coming down there more often.. My girlfriend and I had some signature rolls, and we both enjoyed what we had. the salmon sashimi was fresh and looking nice as well as my spicy baked lobster roll.
