Went for my birthday with some friends
Tiny resto 12-14 seats
2 different but similar fixed menus
Everything was delicious
Service was very good
Great meal and ambiance. Took a reservation at this in order to get the 7 course meal and it was definitely worth it. All the courses were good, some better than others like the pancake, which was delicious, I hear he changes the meals he'll prepare depending on whether the items are on season, so hopefully you do get a chance to try this. There was never a long wait between courses and the service was very good. The price was very good for what you're getting and the restaurant itself looked homely and was nice to sit in.
Omg!! I felt home, back in Japan! The food is excellent, it really warmed my heart and soul, every bite of the food I almost had tears in my eyes. The experience was that great!! If you want authentic Japanese food, this is the place!!
Unique Japanese food experience!. When you eat there you have to trust the chef, because there is no menu. But the food you get is really rare to find in Montreal. All the dishes served have so much details and taste it makes you feel like you are really in Japan. The chef worked in high-end restaurants/hotels in Montreal and also in Japan and he's fantastic. It's a good idea to reserve because there is very few tables. Itadakimasu!
Fresh & Tasty!. This place is a must-try! Like the previous reviewer has already said, it's really nice to find a Japanese restaurant that isn't all about the sushi and the teriyaki. It's also a good experience to not have to choose from a menu, and just go with it and trust the chef. We opted for the $26 chef's special and were treated to a really great meal that surpassed our expectations. With the exception of the chicken skewer dish, everything was fresh, interesting and just downright yummy.
Would definitely go back and recommend it to everyone!
Japanese style veal cabbage roll Jardin Iwaki; I’m your biggest fan! Where in Montreal can you get a seven course meal for under $30? It is a rare thing to find, and I’m so glad I stumbled into this place! First: there is no a la carte and you won’t have any idea what’s coming your way. The menu is created daily, based on what’s fresh and in season. Second: It’s Japanese, but there is no sushi. You may end up eating something you’ve never tried before (for me that was jellyfish). Third: The dishes are beautiful and even though I didn’t LOVE every dish, every dish was interesting and I was more than willing to try things that I otherwise would never ever consider ordering (like Japanese cabbage rolls). Fourth: They offer some Japanese beers, several different Sake and a few other alcohols but they do not have a full service bar. Conclusion: Make a reservation.
