Being a lover of Mexican food, I am in constant search of good Mexican places and this place is great. Loved the guacamole. I called for a ensalada salade which was delicious and my friends tried the molletes which was good too. The service and the ambience was amazing. The only drawback was the vegetarian options were limited. Wish there could be more veggie options.

As a Mexican living in Montreal I always go and try to look for places to replicate food from back home, well, this is it!! I have known Nelli (owner) for over three years and she has always amazed me by her talent and passion for good Mexican food. You must try Baja tacos, Cochinita, Pastor, everything is delicious! We come here often even though we live in south shore!
Une fois les pieds dans La Tamalera, les couleurs nous frappent. Typiquement mexicain! :) Cette charmante petite place propose plusieurs plats alléchants. J'ai aimé tout ce que j'ai mangé ce soir. Pour environ 20$ par personne, mon ventre est satisfait, mais pas celui de mon copain, alors pour ceux qui ont une grosse faim, prévoir plus de plats. Ce qui ressort du lot dans ce restaurant, c'est les boissons maisons (1 litre pour 4$!) et l'ambiance purement colorée avec sa mini section épicerie & objets mexicains à vendre! J'ai essayé les tamales (un au porc, un au fromage-jalapeno), les tacos al pastor et carnita puis la boisson jamaïca (hibiscus)! :)
Great discovery. Fresh, simple and delicious food. Gluten-free and vegetarian options. Definitely on the MUST list of places to try in Montreal.
This place is legit, such good food. I had the porc tacos with mango salsa, not overloaded like many places but amazingly simple and fresh. The elotes are a must for anyone and everyone, you wont regret ordering them as an app or on the side. Agua fresca was large and refreshing.
The food was fresh, authentic and delicious. Great drinks too! Vegetarian and gluten free options easily available if that's your thing.

Delicious! We stopped by on a weekend at lunchtime. We had the choice between the brunch menu and lunch menu. Small place with only a few tables inside and two small bistro tables outside. Funky kitch decor (but not overdone). Smiling staff. Simple menu. Savory dishes. Refreshing beverages. A must try!
Finally!. I've been keeping an eye out for fresh, flavorful, and good value Mexican food all over this city. I will definitely be back soon! It is surprising that it took this long for Montreal to make a home for a place like this.
Great find. This place is so good, I've been going since it opened. Everything is very fresh, great tastes, the corn tortillas are homemade. The food isn't over salted like most restaurants. Don't come here for tex-mex this is real Mexican. Great brunch too. I had a Pozole a while back and it was out of this world. Too bad they don't have a few extra dishes on their menu but what they do is really good. I'm surprised they are not busier.
