Excellent Korean restaurant in the heart of Montreal downtown
The staff is friendly
The food is tasty. Try their chicken entrees. Delicious 4.5/5
As for the main dish try their specialty. Pork and shrimps one are delicious.
Affordable prices and big Portions.

Bon appétit
My first time Chez Bong and not the last. I really enjoyed my meal and the service was perfect. The place was clean and the food was very good for a fair price. If I have one word to say, its gonna be...Yummy :)
I had been meaning to go back to Chez Bong for a while--I went about 5 or 6 years ago mostly because it was in the book 'Cheap Thrills' (they tell you where you can eat for cheap in MTL). Obviously I had loved it AND I love Korean food AND it's in Chinatown (because here, if it's anythin' Asian, it's in Chinatown...which we will henceforth call Asiatown).
Love this place, one of my favorite korean restaurant. The prices are fair and the food is amazing! They have some authentic korean main courses(bibmbap, bulgogi etc). The sea food pancake is just perfect, the fried dumplings are juicy and crispy, with all the others small appetisers that it come with you will not be disappointed.
Chez Bong is a cute little basement Korean joint. They don't offer table-top BBQ, but the menu they have is great Korean cuisine that's reasonably priced. Some of the items might be a little on the spicy side for some people, but this is the norm for much authentic Korean.
Chez Bong is a real diamond in the rough!
It CAN be easy to miss if you don't know it's there and, if a Korean friend hadn't suggested it to me, I may have walked right on by without ever noticing it.
If you're 2-3 people I would suggest this battle plan:
1. Any appetizer - they're pretty generous,
2. One order of #9. Chicken and mushroom stir-fry (to share family-style),
3. One bowl of white rice per person ('Extras' section),
4. One bowl of the 'soup' ('Extras' section) - it's a 'soup of the day' deal. Their chicken soup is especially awesome!
Super casual joint, clean, courteous service, prices are affordable, and quantities are generous.
I always leave happy and very satisfied!
Vraiment bon !.
BEST KOREAN RESTO, GUARANTEED. Best Korean restaurant that I've ever tried in Toronto & Montreal :D
OMG this place is a hidden gem in Chinatown, right next to newly opened Ching Hua dumpling place. Heard Chez Bong has very authentic Korean food, but I'm Korean who likes nicer look ;) The sketchy entrance door of Chez Bong always made me walk away.
Tonight I ordered Korean spicy cold noodle (not on the menu), yuk gae jang (Korean beef soup), & bibimbop in hot pot for two. The cold noodle has *perfect* texture (like al dente for Italian pasta), *very spicy*(by request) beef soup was just like the one I have had at one of the best resto in Korea. Also bibimbop has Korean authentic ingredients as well as its taste - unlike other Korean restaurants in Montreal, Chez Bong's food we ordered was all good and authentic. Food was so delicious that we couldn't think of taking more pictures. Here we are missing a pic of beef soup. lol
Next time I'll try pan-fried spicy squid dish and bul-go-gi on the grill for sure. Plus Korean green onion pancake!
If you like Korean food, this is the place you should go to. Service was amazing - unlike Hwangkum, potato side dish and kimchi was so good. Simply unbelievable.
100% amazing place.
Pretty great! Everything was tasty. Waitress was nice. Love the chicken and bibimbap. The only thing I would say though is the stir fry’s are pretty oily. They also don’t take reservations so be prepared to wait a while
I really like this restaurant. The Duk bok kki is really good. It is super spicy and delicious~! My kids also like Bu
ulgogi. Itvs really sweet Korean style.
But the restaurant was little bit small and street parking was hard to find.
Quite an unexpected surprise. Very good and nice staff. We tried Jajang Myoen and Kimchi Tofu Bokkum.
We also had the Gun Man Doo (fried dumplings) and where really good (beef)
They also have good prices.
Totally recommend
I feel that this place is a bit hidden, but when I entered the decoration and ambiance were amazing.
I ordered spicy rice cake skewer, dumpling and tofu soup. It also came with a bowl of rice and two side dishes: kimchi and potato. All of them taste great.
The skewer was crunchy outside and chewy inside, not to sweet with perfect seasoning. Really recommended.
The dumpling sauce was so tasty, it was salty and tangy and not to strong to overpower the dumpling flavor.I spent my time looking for the recipe of this sauce, but couldn't find it.
The sondubu jiggae was so refreshing, it has tofu, pork, eggs, veggies and seafood. I came on a rainy day, this soup was perfect, I picked the right dish.
The side dishes were all tasty, I prefer the potato one than kimchi. The kimchi had a bitter taste at the end, but overall it was good.
Some dishes are not listed on menu, but displayed on the wall, such as jajangmyeon and fried chicken. You can always ask the server and order it.
Although the ambiance, deco, food and price were excellent, but they have to put emphasize on their restroom.
Extremely delicious food with a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Been coming here for many years and it’s still one of my favourite restaurants!
Nice little place to eat korean food. We had soondooboo jjige and dolsot bibimbab. Both were pretty good.
