My Bento Box was a delight and so colourful! It had some segmented oranges too for post-meal. I liked the quality of the salmon and tuna sashimi. Yum! The wasabi was spicy too.
The shrimp tempura was absolutely delicious! The shrimp itself was large and substantial. The batter of the tempura wasn’t too thick either. There was also tempura sweet potato, zucchini, and taro; all of which were fresh and tasted good.
I liked the texture of the Japanese rice. The salmon teriyaki was a little on the dry side and thin. It was still decent.
The bento box was more than enough for me and so I packed the rest home.
Came here for my birthday celebrations, I'd a very nice environment, with good service and the waiter who served us understood the fish choices. We ordered one of the sashimi one pd. Fish that comes with soup afterwards. Very fresh and delicious. Also had the grilled calamari and seated sashimi. Sashimi was very buttery and tasty and grilled calamari was among the best I've ever had!

Hibiki Sushi is a nice little sushi restaurant located in Markham on Hwy 7, close to Unionville. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, and the sushi bar is present as soon as you walk in, though there are way more tables that can accompany larger groups as well. Their menu offers up more than just sushi, but it's hard to look at anything else, especially when most of their daily specials are sushi encompassing.
We ordered the Seared Sushi Platter ($19.99), Toro Sushi Special ($24.99), Crab Roll ($4.50), and Uni Sashimi (3 pieces for $14.99). The Seared sushi platter was my favorite as I can never say no to good seared fish and sushi. Though I can't recall the various types, the one that stood out the most was the Foie Gras Sushi (fatty goose liver). I loved the Foie Gras sushi because it had this wonderfully smooth flavor and the sear had it literally melt in your mouth.
The Toro Sushi Special allowed us to try 3 types of Toro, the Akane, Chu Toro, and O Toro. The O Toro, being the fattiest part of the tuna belly, also happened to be my favorite. It melts in your mouth also and all you can really taste is pure joy similar to that of pork belly.
Being that it is Markham, I couldn't help noticing the servers in Chinese. Not that it hurts the restaurant as the place served up some very high quality sushi. The meal was pretty pricey and I found it pricier than other sushi spots you'll find in Midtown and Downtown, but still a wonderful place to go. Definitely be back just to try as many daily specials as I can.
Ordered their chef's special sashimi combo, $40 for 15 pieces, totally worth it. Lobster chawanmushi was also well worth $5, smooth egg custard with fragrant broth, and some citrus peel shavings. Hamachi Kama was a generous portion and grilled to perfection. The bbq sushi was so-so, wouldn't order it again for $20. Conch sashimi, which is why I came here, was underwhelming @ $7, no need to order again. Soup and salad were offered and accepted. I wonder if the servers do a mental tally of what you've ordered to offer the soup and salad for free... Our server was quite attentive, I'm sure our dinner for 2 @ $93 helped. The owner chatted with us as we left, and he seemed nice enough. Yes, it's pricey, but I'm glad to have a go to place for good Jap food now.
Newly open Japanese cuisine in Unionville. Surrounded by a few AYCE Japanese and Izakaya restaurants. Hibiki stands out in terms of quality, decor, and utensils (their bowls and plates r real ceramic. Not cheap plastic bowls and plates)
Prices are a bit higher but u get the quality and they r very fresh.
Dinner Bento are $25 and up.
Chirachi is around $18
One highlight is their wasabi. It is not from a tube nor from a can of powder.

Came here for a simple dinner and ended up ordering the tasting menu.
The food was definitely one of the better experiences enjoyed in a long while. The only meh moment was the smoked duck salad where I found an identity crisis… did not flow with the accompanying foods presented.
The fish was very fresh and could taste it in every bite.
The staff is very efficient without being intrusive.
See myself coming back to try their other offerings.

Located off the busy street of Highway 7, you could quickly drive pass this restaurant that is a little set back from the road given its plaza and parking spaces at the front is rather small.
Step into this restaurant and you'll be welcomed by its nice warm wood finish interior.
Smoked duck breast udon and spider roll upgrade $16.50 + $8.25
The duck breast was done beautifully. Tender and smokey. The udon was nicely chewy and the broth was just perfect. A good noodle dish. The spider roll came beautifully presented and tastes as good as it looks with a nice generous portion of fish roe on top.
The 4pcs Sashimi with Mini Steak Don $19.50 was good. The Sashimi was the usual faire - salmon and tuna, but it was nice and thick. The mini steak was nicely grilled medium rare with a mini raw egg and drizzled with a light sweet soy glaze.
Dishes came with salad and miso soup. The salad itself was a bit wilted and didn't seem very fresh, but was still ok. The dressing was very good. The miso soup was ok.
Dessert, a lychee pudding, was nice but potions was a bit small.. a very small shooter cup.
Though a bit more expensive, the quality, cut of the fish and taste of the food itself is pretty good and worth trying.
Parking limited. Would come again.
This is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants in town. The decor and setting are nice. Their food quality and service are always good. There are many selections of bento, ramen, udon, grill & tempura set to choose from. You can also order a la carte from their regular menu. The tables are well spaced out and they do a good job sanitizing them after each customer.
It’s been a while since we came to Hibiki for Japanese bento lunch. Although the prices have gone up slightly but the quality and service was consistent and the food tasted very good so, it was worth it. We enjoy our meals every time never get disappointed.
Recent Visit: I brought my family from out of town to Hibiki for lunch. They were very impressed by the high quality of the food and nice service. Our overall experience was great. This place is a good choice if you crave for Japanese food.
Amazing place for Japanese Izakaya. They have fresh delicious sushi. The service was great and we called for reservation got a table within 30mins.
