It’s the time of the year when rain and gloomy skies call out for hearty soups and stews to make us feel warm and cozy again. Trailing for that Gamjatang craving all fall and winter long baby! Only one area around the city to aimlessly drive around to choose which to satisfy all the cravings. This little strip of 34Ave is packed with hidden treasures of small mom-pop Korean eateries, you won’t have to wander far before you stumble onto a storefront that catches your eye. Opened a couple months back, Miga had a surge of popularity with attention spurring over their hot plates that made up of cheese and rice cakes. Not a fan of either, my interest to try out Miga wasn’t peaked until I saw their full menu floating around online, extensive list!

Soft Clear Noodles with Beef and Vegetables - Japchae - ($18) - Lacked flavoring, I’m use to the subtle sesame oil taste in most of the Japchaes’ that I order which this lacked. So for me this one was pretty bland. Noodles were nice and soft, impressed with how long the noodles were too.

Pork Neck Bone Soup - Gamja-Tang - ($15) - Pretty solid bowl! Had three very generous sized bones with ridiculously tendered meat. Didn’t need any spoon action, meat flaked off with just a scrape from the chopsticks. Which guarantees that the soup had plenty of flavor. Had a sharp kick of spice which balanced really well with the savory meat bites. But like the first dish, was missing some of flavor, perilla seeds and pepper topped on top usually adds that additional subtle kick that blends well with the spice, which wasn’t provided in this. Also worth noting that with how flavorful the soup was, the potatoes were really bland.

Korean Style Barbecue Short Ribs - Galbi - ($28) - Gorgeous coloring with a strong savory marinade that resulted in an amazing caramelized crust on the edges of each rib. Worth getting your hands dirty, and no judgement if you start gnawing on that bone- Which you definitely should.

BANCHANS! We had five, cubed radish kimchi - seasoned bean sprouts - fish cake - pickled cabbage - potato salad - THE POTATO SALAD WAS BOMBS GUYS. They mixed bits of potatoes with macaroni and raisins and omg… I should have asked for more.

Overall really satisfied with dinner at Miga! The shop is cozy and clean with plenty of seating. Service was extremely friendly and relaxed. Portions are also huge, and prices were fair. I’d come back and recommend! It’s also right beside Pocha Seoul .. talk about competition?!

Miga is a relatively new Korean restaurant on the southside (34 Ave and 93 St) right next to Ginseng Korean BBQ. The place has a more modern and refined ambiance compared to other Korean restaurants like B-Bim-Baab, but it's also much smaller with limited seating. The meal starts with complimentary banchan, Korean side dishes to be enjoyed with rice and the main meal. But I found myself picking away at them while waiting for the entrees to arrive.

I have been to Miga twice now and I expect to be back many more times. Their chicken and veggies or Topokki(rice cakes) served on hot stone is my favourite! It's a unique dish that is fairly new to the Edmonton food scene. Their bi bim bap is also delicious! 😋

Came here last week on a Saturday night for dinner as I was craving Korean food. I saw this place on someone's Instagram and I thought I had to try it. It is located in the south side with the other cluster of Korean eateries. The food was amazing and the portions were huge. The service was quick and friendly. Overall, I enjoyed Miga and I would come back.

Miga is the newest Korean restaurant to open up in Edmonton. Like most Korean eateries, it's located somewhere in the southside. I swear that's where all the good food is! I mainly came to Miga to try out one thing in particular which was their hot stone plate with dipping cheese. Yes, dipping cheese. I've only started seeing this food trend recently last year on social media but knew I had to try it (even though I'm kinda lactose, oops). Miga serves the traditional dishes you'd find at most Korean restaurants in the city (bulgogi, short rib, noodles, bibimbap, and hot pot/stew).

Hello more new Korean places. Miga’s been on my radar ever since they opened back in October. I’ve been wanting to check them out for awhile but kept on getting delayed for one reason or another. My squash buddies went out to check it before me and feedback was good. Only thing they warned me about is that their portions are smaller than normal.

Came here on a Saturday night and sat down right away. My boyfriend and I ordered the seafood hotpot ($38) that came with 2 bowls of rice. My boyfriend was hoping for more veggies and tofu in the pot but it was filling for both of us. The side dishes were unlimited and we had to add more kimchi to the hotpot as we felt like it wasn't spicy enough. Glad there was the button to ring for service as some korean places don't have it and takes a while to get the server.

I really liked it here! Came here around the afternoon for a late lunch and it was pretty empty. We ordered the dukbokki hot plate which comes with cheese, corn, egg, and deep fried won ton. It's a hugeee portion so I would say that this dish alone is good to share with 2 people or at least 3 if you're ordering multiple dishes. The dukbokki itself was good but the cheese fondue hardened after a while so I wasn't too impressed with it by the end. We ordered chicken cutlet with cheese and it tasted really good! Cheese goes really well with it. Both dishes came with a bowl of rice but I found it a little overpriced especially the cutlet (I believe it was $16?) but most Korean restaurants are around the same price range so it should be expected.

We went on a Friday for dinner and made sure to make reservations. It was quite busy and there was a lineup for tables by the time I had got there at 6:30pm. We ordered the bibimbap in a stone bowl, the spicy rice cakes, and pork katsu. Everything was delicious! The spicy rice cakes were extremely spicy so if you can't handle the spice, I recommend getting the chicken hot plate instead! It comes with corn, cheese, dumplings, and deep fried vegetables for around $30 I believe. The pork katsu was also very delicious. It was very tender and moist inside and complemented the sauce very well. In my opinion, the bibimbap was my least favourite. It barely had any pieces of beef even though we ordered the beef bibimbap. Nonetheless, the meal was delicious and I anticipate the next time I come back!
