Good food and good service. I always go at a slow time, never dinner rush, so, my food always arrives promptly. The older waitress can be a little grouchy and always reiterates that refills cost extra, but honestly, she probably gets low-life university students and hipsters a lot, so it is understandable.... One day she had ordered herself food and we ordered the same thing. She gave it to us so we didn't have to wait and that was supppppper nice of her. I recommend anything on the breakfast menu, especially the "Neptunes Benedict". The veggie wrap is also quite yummy.
Sketchy looking but good. I've walked by this place dozens of times and I finally decided to stop in. For me it was due to an intense curiousity, though the people I was with said that they had heard good things. It is as one might expect inside given the exterior, but I don't mind sketchy little diners that have persisted for years. It usually means that they've got a loyal clientele, which often implies decent food.
We were greeted by a friendly manager and brought drinks shortly after being seated. The menu was huge. Anything and everything seemed to be on it. We picked out a few appetizers and I nabbed my usual "safe bet" choice at a new place; the club sandwich. The app's were pretty good; mostly of the deep fried variety but satisfying all the same. The club sandwich was stellar. They actually used roasted chicken, not loaf, and thick layers of freshly cooked bacon. The tomatoes were room temp, ripe, and didn't have that been-sitting-in-the-fridge-for-weeks taste. The fries were your standard frozen type but well prepared. Overall we were really happy.
I've since been back though mostly stayed with diner type meals. They made a respectable grilled cheese (with real cheese - big win there) and ceaser salad one of the last times I was through. Overall its not my favorite diner in the city but they make a good meal, have very reasonable prices, and friendly service. It's worth checking out for the experience alone.
Good Food, Great Value!. As the menu proudly states good food, great value. I was skeptical to say the least judging the place by the decor alone. However thanks to the great rating on urban spoon I gave this hole in the wall a chance.
Craving a good Burger I was not disappointed. For about the same price as a Big Mac Combo at Mc Ds (minus the drink) I received a freshly grilled and delicious Mozza Mushroom Burger with fries. All ingredients were fresh and I can honestly say I have paid twice as much for a burger that didn't live up to this standard. I added gravy which was fresh made beef gravy.
Service was fast and friendly and even warmed up to the dated decor. I highly recommended this place if you are looking for some delicious comfort food. I intend to coming back and look forward to trying out the breakfast menu.
