I am a fried chicken lover who wants to get out of the KFC phase. I had Korean Friend Chicken to replace that a while back but that got expensive very quickly (It Dog, Seoul Fried Chicken, Coco, Pelicana, etc). Mary Brown's felt greasy depending on the location you visit (Mayfield and Oliver are the two best I've encountered). Popeyes is my true calling... the bang for your buck, the fresh, non-greasy, juicy pieces of chicken are well worth the wait. Although there are only two flavours, I feel that it's enough. I alternate between the original flavour and the spicy version. Sometimes I just get half and half.
One thing I would caution is that you come just for the chicken. The biscuits, although good, are more like a palate cleaner and an obstacle to your chicken. The fries were good but greasy and small portioned. When I came here there was about an hour wait from ordering to actually sitting down to eat. I'd say it was worth it. I don't know what the lines are like now but just use Google Maps to see the "live traffic" at the storefront. It must collect location data from every Google User's phone to paint you that picture. Whatever, Google surveillance is better than other forms of surveillance. Crowd-sourcing data for the win!
Spicy chicken with biscuits all day long. Now that the line ups slowed and you are not waiting 45-1hr for food it becomes a much more pleasant experience. Love the biscuits here and the spicy chicken is so much more flavourful to the reg. Cajun fries are good but not sure I am a fan of the gravy. Either way...a bit on the pricy side but comparable to good fried chicken in the city. Given the choice between this and the other fried chicken chain hands down a winner. Although I would go to the other place for gravy.
Maybe not as good as the hype, but good fried chicken. The fries had a nice slight kick, I liked them. I liked the rice and red beans. Biscuits were decent. I didn't care much for the gravy. I'll go back.
