When’s swiss to go was in the west end I used to come as much as I possibly could. This restaurant has phenomenal sandwiches on a pretzel bun, so if you love pretzels and you love sandwiches you need to come here. Also if you love potato salad and you love soup you need to come here. made fresh and from scratch the best soup and potato salad I’ve ever had in my life and I don’t even like soup and potato salad that much but this restaurant changed me. The owner is a beautiful amazing woman who always remembers her customers and greats them as if they are family even after only seeing them a handful of times. I believe they also make fresh Swiss desserts still so if you have a chance to try those they are a must.
I saw the excellent reviews about this place and got my hopes up to try. I don't think it was exactly my thing and I am going to tread carefully here because I know a lot of people like this place. I respect this sandwich shop's existence but I just don't like it enough myself.
When I got inside, I was met with a cozy, no BS sandwich / bakery place setting. The staff was friendly and down-to-earth. I was really eager to try a sandwich. What I got was a rather normal sandwich with unique bread. The bread was cool / cold and chewy. It was almost like a bagel / pretzel kind of texture. I didn't exactly like it but I can't say I've tasted anything else quite like it. I am sure they baked it themselves and that's cool. The tomatoes, cheese, and meats were just OK. They served their purpose I guess. The soup I had was really healthy-tasting and acidic / sour, but I really needed it to offset the coldness of my sandwich.
I think I'm just a hot sandwich kind of guy. If it were to be a cold sandwich, I'd want some bread that is soft and flavourful. Unfortunately, I couldn't get either of that here so I wasn't a happy camper going home. I would totally recommend everyone to come try here at least once to see if it's your thing though.
I haven’t been to Swiss 2 GO since they packed their bags up from the west side and relocated back to Beverly. I have a couple friends that absolutely adore this place and make the trek out to this part of town (even though they live on opposite ends of the city). It’s close to Million Thai and A Yah Mi Deh.
