Nice meal with great service. Usually order takeout, but this time we sat I and tried the Mapo Tofu, Salt & Pepper Squid, and Satay Beef Noodles. All three were very flavorful and very fresh. I do wish the dishes were saucier which would have raised my rating. Very good overall though.
This neat little joint is a must try if you're in edgemont. After driving by a few times we had the opportunity to try their food for the first time. This is not your typical western style as they mostly serve Hong Kong style dishes. We ordered the three seafood and chinese broccoli (generous on the seafood, flavorful and well seasoned). I particularly liked this dish as it had a light and healthy taste. The other dishes were ordered were the fried chicken (crispy, juicy and nicely cooked) and e-noodles with enoki (chewy and flavorful). They also serve Peking Duck here and Shark Fin Soup. Prices here are about average, but you get large portions. I would definitely recommend this one for you foodies out there.
Edgemont City – is an authentic staple for Chinese cuisine in the NW suburbs. Based on observation alone – this restaurant is packed EVERY night of the week (with predominantly Asian folken), is popular for banquets (10 course traditional meals) and has plenty of regulars! CRAVING GREENS??? We ordered a HEAPING plate of the “dummgoo dao miu” (snow pea leaves with enoki mushrooms).
I must say that I have found the best tasting Peking duck here!
Came here for my brother's birthday dinner on a weeknight. Surprisingly it was near full house. They have a variety of 2 dish combos. We had the Peking duck set dinner and two sets of 2 dish combo. Overall the food is pretty good. The service is good as the waitress tried to joke with us a few times. However, the consistency of the the dishes coming out weren't great. We were ready to leave as our last dish finally came out.
Regardless, I will definitely be back. The Peking duck has a lot of flavour though the way they cut it was too chunky. But that flavour is definitely something that I'm craving as I type this!
My overall experience was good.
Food: 8/10
Service:8/10
Price: 7/10
Food was good, well seasoned. I have been going here for years and food has been consistent. The dishes have been getting smaller but has been a trend in most Chinese restaurants in Calgary. The waiters are honest with their recommendations and all the food was on point. Their "crab meat and fish stomach" soup is a little bit more expensive but it is because they use real crab meat and is noticeable in the taste.
Service is very good especially for being a Chinese restaurant, they are attentive and honest about food recommendation.
The sizes of the dishes are fair and appropriate for the price. They do not skimp out on the meat on the dishes like other Chinese restaurants.
Overall I would recommend this restaurant to friends and is great for large family dinners.
Don't expect too much here but average large-portioned dishes! That's why it is so popular in the Chinese community. One fried noodle or rice dish can last me for days!! Service is very very bad but that is okay for this restaurant. You have a hand so start waving it! Peking Duck is not so good here, or any of the more expensive/special dishes (crab, fish, lobster). Go somewhere else for that! Get basic things here and you will be happy. (*´ω`*)
I like the pekking duck here! Great portion and reasonable price! Usually they get pretty crowed during dinner time, Make you make a reservation before heading there!
Food is good. Service not that great. The English and Chinese menu is different. It would be great if Chinese menu had a translated English version.
My family and I consider Edgemont City the go-to place whenever we crave for Chinese food or when we need to bring something to a potluck party. We've been here countless times and it has never disappointed us. The place is always packed with families. I mean even the employees of another nearby Chinese restaurant, which I will not mention, I've seen eat here! I usually order from the English menu but when we went one time with friends who spoke and read Chinese, we discovered a new suite of other items that we found way more delicious (e.g. deep fried shrimp/lobster balls, broccolinis with scallops, steamed fish, creamy lobster over noodles). I took pictures of each one and showed it to the servers the following visit. I wish the (better) menu could be revised with English translations and/or have the pictures shown.
Decor needs updating and washrooms need to be more clean. Don't expect fine dining or expect servers to make small talk. If ordering by phone, refer to menu items by the number as you see it in their menu and make sure you're ready with your list -- they get impatient after 30 seconds of diddle-daddling and may ask you to call again. Best thing though is your food will almost always be ready within a 30 min time frame. All in all, it's a great place to go or order from when you're hit with the next Chinese-food-crave.
I was there with my family tonight & the service/food was excellent.
