My most favourite Vietnamese restaurant. Been coming here for many many years - over 10 years. I think it’s the best Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary. The place is very nice and clean, good customer service, family-run business. The food is delicious! My favorites are beef satay soup - a must try. I love their green papaya salad with shrimp and nuts - make it spicy please. Another favourite is their fried banana in sticky rice dipped in warm coconut milk and slivered with peanuts. Super yummy!

Today I ordered two soups via Foodora. One of them turned out to be an incorrect order (it was the regular pho broth vs the pho saté broth I had ordered) but as soon as I called to inform the store, I was greeted with the utmost professionalism. It is so refreshing to get such good customer service from an Asian restaurant when they sometimes get a stereotypical bad reputation for poor customer service (not to offend anyone but I’m sure most of you know what I’m speaking of). They instantly resolved the issue without any problem at all and were lovely to talk to. Living downtown in Calgary (I’m from Edmonton originally), it’s been hard for me to find a good pho spot but Balo is definitely in my top 3 and I will definitely be returning due to the better customer service I’ve received here today compared to 1 of the others in my top 3. :)

Me and my husband eat vermicelli there, it is our favorite place. Best vermicelli in the city if you ask us. Service is ok, but we care about the food more. In other restaurants I feel like I am at the interview instead of having a meal in piece.

I love this place for Pho. The broth is one of the best that I've had. It's a bit different than most places in that I don't find it overly salty and they use perhaps cinnamon or cloves. It's really nice with beef. Definitely one of our favourites.

Danny the owners son is an awesome guy and there food is great!!! I would highly recommend going! They also do take out so if you are not wanting to leave your desk for that long just call!

Bite On This YYC

Been here several times since my work is located nearby. Service is hit and miss, but the food is consistently delicious. They always accommodate to our reservations, and food comes out quickly. No matter which type of pho you order, you won’t be disappointed. I recommend the sate seafood pho!

Great place, with patio for when it's sunny! Service has really improved over time, meat is tasty and both sate beef and beef pho are delicious, always had a good time in a nice environment.

Great viet spot close to downtown. Their menu has a good array and the dishes are pretty consistent everytime I eat there. The noodles are fresh and not clumpy, nice spring rolls, and plenty of meat on the bun bowls. The patio is also a great add with the nice weather.

DELICIOUS. We were there for lunch @ 12:45 during the week and managed to get a table but it was very busy. It is busy for a reason, based on my experience I thought that this was the best Vietnamese food I have ever had. fresh, great selection and good value. Food was prompt and very hot but getting the bill was a little slow.
