I absolutely love this place. We had the goulash, bigos, cheesecake and Poppyseed cake! LOVED everything. Will definitely go back! I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves eastern European food. Their deserts are the best, in my opinion.
Ham so good, it has the potential to convert a vegan to eat pork again. Ask for Ham Maćka when you stop by. Without a doubt the best ham our fair city has on offer.
Don't be taken aback by the fat cap it comes with. I'm convinced it is because of this fat that the ham so moist and tender. Simply trim away, serve on European rye bread and Rama spread (also available at Cracovia). Make sure you get a fresh loaf. Gently press the crust, it should feel tough not spongy.
The ladies behind the counter are helpful - in an Eastern European sort of way, so don't take offense. They really do mean well.
Comfort food from the old country.. One of my favorite lunches while I'm tooling about the city in my 5 ton. Sauerkraut, perogies, borscht, sausages. Good, cheap, hot lunch. And VERY filling.
By FAR the best eastern european food in calgary, huge selection of real deal deli products, smoked meat and double smoked sausages, amazing !
Living in fairview I'm pretty spoiled by having two polish deli and a German deli within two minutes. This place is really good if you are looking for a warm tasty polish/European lunch. Lots of options from perogies, sausages to more traditional dishes I wish I knew what they are but taste awesome. The deli is stocked with tons of different type of smoked and dried sausages, deli meats and cheeses. The staff is helpful and friendly to us who are unfamiliar with some of the food. They will sample you no problem if you want to try something new They also have the cutest girls working too. ;-).
