Visited this place on the weekend. You can tell by the people who go here that it is an authentic Korean place. Had the split dish with black bean noodles and the spicy seafood soup. Also had the red pepper and garlic chicken. Really enjoyed the chicken it had good flavour, some of the pieces were a bit fatty but overall good. The black bean noodles were also tasty. The spicy soup however I could not eat, it was SO spicy. I cannot handle a lot of heat but of the 2 spoonfuls I did have it was good. Be aware tho, that this is not a Korean BBQ place. I was craving bulgogi and they do not sell it. Most of their dishes are noodles, soups, rice dishes and some fried chicken/pork dishes. No grilled meat dishes.
This was a nice little restaurant in our neighborhood. Service was friendly and recommend the seafood pancake and black bean noodles. Will definitely be back to try other dishes
Hidden gem!! Was so happy my gf and I stumbled upon this place. On a Thursday evening at 8:30pm this med sized restaurant was near full house.
Between the 2 of us we had the set dinner for 2-3 which included sweet and sour pork - we ordered the sauce on the side. Portions are huge, battered perfectly and the sauce was more sour than sweet but def different from the typical Chinese style. The veggies with pork and steamed buns were my fave! Sauce was so addicting and they had some bamboo shoots which gave the dish good texture. Buns were soft and couldn't resist soaking up the sauce. Then the ultimate spicy seafood noodle soup - AMAZING! The noodles are endless which is very rare. And the soup was perfect, right level of kick and can taste the seafood.
The service was mediocre but given how busy it was it's acceptable. The chefs are awesome too, we packed our noodles to go and asked if we could get more soup, they made us some to take home. My gf and I can't wait to come back here!
Amazing Chinese/ Korean dishes. Always fresh and flavourful. The majority of customers are Korean so that is a good sign for me that it is authentic.
We always order the black bean noodles and sweet & sour pork and in addition add a new dish each time to try. Last time we tried the spicy beef noodle soup and that was incredible! We are making our way through the menu.
Service has always been friendly and efficient.
We have frequented this mall many times as our puppy used to attend Dogma but we never really noticed this restaurant. Recently, while watching youtube, I discovered black bean noodles and they seemed quite intriguing. I looked up the closest Korean restaurant and stumbled upon this gem. We went at a slow time (5pm) and got a lovely seat right away. As soon as you open the door to this place you get a waft of amazing food smell. The ambiance is nothing special but the delicious smells make up for it.
Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the half-half (spicy seafood noodle and black bean noodle -jajangmyeon) and the starchy noodle soup. The starchy soup was good but was not what the hubby was expecting, it was just too filling, but still good. My half-half on the other hand, was great. The spicy seafood noodle soup was good. I particularly enjoyed the amount of seafood it contained. Totally worth the reasonable price. The black bean sauce is very tasty and not as sweet as I imagined, which made it unique and delicious. The noodles were perfectly chewy and enjoyable. I would probably just order the black bean noodle next time (it was that good), along with their garlic fried pork (I've heard good things).
We are definitely going back there as they have created a black bean noodle-lover!
This is one of my favorite places for a hearty home cooked meal when you need to carb up or just need some comfort food. I always get the half and half dish. Half spicy soup, half sweet noodles. The tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and sweet pork is also great.
I can't recall anywhere that has better Jambon than this place. My girlfriend visits from Toronto all the time and agrees, this is our favourite Korean noodle spot. Period. For example, she was super mad at me one day, and I was like "lets go get noodles". We came to this place and she was super happy after. Thanks San Dong Banjeom!
Consistently delicious every time I go. The half-half is the way to go if it's your first time. I get the spicy seafood noodles now. The red pepper and garlic deep fried pork is crazy good, kind of reminiscent of ginger beef but 2000x better.
I would recommend making a reservation on weekdays just in case they get busy, and to go earlier on weekends as they don't take reservations on weekends and it fills up quick. The only thing that could be better is that the parking could be tricky when it's busy. Especially when the store owner they share the plaza with doesn't allow any parking from restaurant patrons, even when they have all of their parking stalls empty. The store owners obviously haven't tried the noodles yet.
We dropped by for lunch with friends. The place was busy but we were seated quickly. Tried the half and half by way of an introduction. Yummy. The seafood soup is awesome. And the black bean sauce very good. Hole in the wall is a great description of the place. Small and popular, the staff seem justly proud of their food. Seek it out for a unique experience.
We had a craving for korean chinese food after coming back from Korea. We were surprised to see how similar this tasted with what we had in Korea. We got 1 beef and 1 seafood spicy noodle and they both tasted pretty good. Not too spicy but it had a nice kick. We both found the soup a bit oily but I guess it's somewhat expected. We'd definitely come back and try the deep fried pork dish as everyone else around us was getting it
This place is what I consider a hole in the wall...hidden gem...no hype. Truly authentic Korean, owners are Korean, and majority of the diners are Korean. When we sat down, I thought this is what Korea would be like... I think. I even saw a diner eat sitting cross legged with their shoes off..
Your not going to see any Korean side dishes, or hotpot, or Korean BBQ here. It's soups, noodles, rice, chicken and beer. I can truly appreciate that! It's different and delicious.
We ordered the noodles in seafood black bean sauce and the tomorrow garlic fried pork. Both were very good. I definitely need to come back and try the glass noodles.
Plenty of street parking too. Inside is not very fancy.
