The pizza here is LOADED... the cheese and meat is piled high on the Greek style pizza. It''s not my favorite style, but the boyfriend loves it and the sauce is delicious and ingredients are quality.
Pizza was very good. A tad on the pricey side for a local little restaurant but still reasonable. Server was nice but so incredibly slow and we often felt ignored. So if you’re in a hurry this may not be your place. If you’ve got lots of time and want to hang out for a visit you’re good to go.
I have been frequenting Mitillinis for years now, and it is by far my favourite pizza in the city. Their dough is very light and fluffy, and they are very generous with their toppings. The tomato sauce that they use has a lot of flavour, and I was told that it is made from scratch by the owner. I always get the donair pizza with a side of dill dip, it is a perfect combination. I have also tried other items on the menu. They have a steak special on Saturdays which consists of your choice of soup or salad, steak and shrimp as well a garlic bread and a side for roughly $16. Steak is always perfectly seasoned and flavourful. Their Cesar salad is ridiculously good, dressing is also home made.
It's all right. We live close to Mitillinis and have dined in and ordered out on multiple occasions.
The good: the pizza is delicious and half price on Sundays and their pick up specials make it a good value. Cheap pasta on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is a pretty decent deal on nights when we forgot to plan a meal ahead. One time, we ordered a pizza for pick up and it was not good. When I called the manager apologized and we were able to pick up a new pizza. I was happy that my problem was resolved, and we've continued to patronize and no complaints about the pizza since (don't get pizza with chicken on it).
The not so good: the decor, the chairs are wicker and from the outside it looks more like a pick up counter than a dine in restaurant. Actually, I lived within walking distance of it for months before I realized it was a restaurant. The menu is not very exciting, it is all traditional pasta dishes and pizza. There are some steaks on the menu, but it's not a place we've wanted to go for a nicer meal. Mitillinis almost transports you back into the 80s.
All in all, if you are thinking of coming in to check out their specials, you will likely be satisfied.
Best pizza in Calgary. Must try the plain cheese. It's anything but "plain"
