Dosa….again. It’s a staple for me, and when it is this inexpensive, why attempt to make it (a sub-par version nonetheless) at home? They even have takeout dosa for FIVE DOLLARS. Not sure how they manage that as the packaging alone costs something!. All that aside, I love the portions, tasty masala potato stuffing and their sambar is tough to beat! I always order the masala dosa ~ $9 with chai on the side. Located across from the Superstore, you can’t miss it.
This place serves the best butter chicken in Calgary. Some of my favourites are vada sambar, butter chicken dosa, shahi paneer and chole bhature. Dal makhani is terrible, stay away from it.
This place is Great. They specialize in South Indian food but also have odds and ends from other areas of India too. None of the dishes are bad.
It is a bit small, and they don't serve alcohol. But neither of those things bothers me because the dosas are friggen amazing.
Top 3 items I've had here: Shahi paneer dosa, bhaturay chole, marina fish curry.
Edit- recently I’ve noticed things changing here. The potato filling in the dosa is sometimes cut carelessly- onions way too large etc. Small things can make a big difference. That is why I took a way a star.
This place is a gem! A friend stumbled upon it while shopping at the plaza and suggested we meet there for dinner when I came to Calgary. The restaurant is very basic with comfortable booths but the food is out of this world and so inexpensive. We each had a different type of dosa (huge!) Mine was filled with a tasty potato mixture with a dish of palak paneer to top it with. The meal comes with a lovely soup and two dipping sauces. I ordered a chai tea with my meal and I can vouch for the fact that it was brewed on the spot to perfection.
I ordered the Saag Paneer Dosa and it was wonderfully spicy (at my request) but awfully big! I could've easily shared one Dosa with another person. The inside of this place is pretty plain Jane but looks clean. They do not serve alcohol. Nice little South Indian restaurant to grab a quick lunch.
Came here with my mom who is highly judgmental about good Indian food and we both had a great time. The masala dosa was excellent, the flavours in the chicken tikka were amazing, and the chai was perfect. Our waitress was extremely attentive and super on top of checking in with us, even though the place was pretty busy. The portions were pretty substantial too, we ended up taking home leftovers. The extras like chai and raita were a bit expensive but overall it was a great experience and I'm definitely going back.
Good food for the price! I crave the indo-chinese chow mein on a regular basis. So yummy. The chicken in the butter chicken is also really good. Most times I get the butter chicken from other restaurants and its the nasty chicken pieces, but not here!
Always get take out and its always ready when I get there.
Tried their masala dosas. The food tasted great. They also packaged it really securely which was great for the drive home.
My only gripe is that they took way too long to prepare it. Will go back for the dosa still.
The first place I tried after coming to Calgary. I was homesick and craved for some spicy south Indian food and I love this place. We had shrimps fry, chicken biryani, keema rice. The portions are large. After the starters we were almost full couldn't have the main course. In all a really good place if you craving for some real south Indian food.
One of the best authentic South India Restaurant. Their flavors are amazing. My absolute favorite is their Chola bhature with samosa chat. It is just the best. All the Dosa dishes are really good as well. The only problem that I noticed is their waiting time. It usually varies from 15- 30 mins. Else this place is a definite try if you like the spices.
