We had made a reservation on Sunday morning for 7 people at 1pm. We arrive on time and there is a family sitting at the table we reserved. We had to wait for another table to become available so that they could move out of our table. It seems kind of silly you make a reservation just for it not to be honoured. I got the #7 braised beef soup with the thin noodles which was delicious. The broth was flavourful, the noodles were fresh and the beef was tender. Even with the mix up of table I would definitely come back here.
Seriously soooo amazing. I have only been once but i cannot wait to return. The noodles were so fresh and the dish was incredibly flavourful. Give it a try !!!
Hand pulled noodles were really good, portions were a little small though. Want to go back to try the beef stir fry as I heard that was really good!
Super fresh noodles made right in front of your eyes! Broth needs a bit more depth, but spicy option is good. House tea & sesame ball desserts are excellent! (4/5)
I like getting the #7 spicy braised beef noodle soup with meat slices and egg. It reminds me of vietnamese bun bo hue.
Peeves are they don't accept credit cards under 20, limited parking, and the noodle bowl portions are fairly small.
I eat here about once a week, it's my new favourite lunch spot. I always get #2 and I love the combination of spicy and sour with the pickled mustard greens. Nothing better on a cold day. Sometimes I'll get the combo and add the extra beef to the soup. The house tea is quite nice, it gets sweeter as you add more water to it, so I would recommend that as well. One day I'll try something else on the menu, but for now I'm obsessed with that one soup!
I would give this place a 5 but the meat items were definitely not as good as other places. The noodles are amazing however but does not make up for it all. Noodles are hand made fresh to order so you have to wait a little bit but not too long. Took us about 10 mins or so. They have all different types of noodles too, flat, thin, fat and wide. Will come back again for sure.
I rarely get a chance to go to restaurants sans kids in Calgary, so I took advantage to go with a friend to Calan Beef Noodle. Hand pulled noodles are all the rage in Toronto at the moment. I saw something similar with the ramen trend when I last went to Toronto in 2014. It took a while before taking off in Calgary.

Before my trip back to Vancouver, my boyfriend took me to Calan Beef Noodle Restaurant in North part of Calgary. We had an early dinner at this place. Calan Beef Noodle was the first handmade noodle Restaurant in Calgary. It’s a small Chinese Restaurant. There are no many tables in this restaurant. We arrived the restaurant around 4:30. This place was very full. We had to wait for while to get a table.
After we sat down, we began to order our food. My boyfriend had HAND-PULLED NOODLES IN BEEF SOUP, which is $10.99. I ordered CALAN SPECIAL POTATO NOODLE IN SPICY SAUCE, which is the same price as the beef soup noodles $10.99. In addition, I also ordered Egg and Beef dish sides. After we ordered all the food, we had to wait for 10 – 15 mins for our food. Finally, our food came out the kitchen. They were all well cooked and fresh. Each noodle bowl has its own flavors. The noodles tasted very delicious and fresh. Both of noodle bowls were in huge portions, which were totally worth the prices. We had very great time there. When we finished our meal, we could just leave the empty bowls on the table. The servers gotta clean up for us. In summary, we had a great experience in Calan Noodle.
Pretty much perfect for what it is. Mi noodle is the comp but I wouldnt always choose one versus the other. Mi noodle has better atmosphere, better meat, but the noodles aren't as good. My current weight: 315
