Excellent bartender Mike! All staff seems really great though. Funny and personable, attentive service. Food is decent and they gave a decent selection beer and specials. The atmosphere is really welcoming and laid back in there. I'll be back!
Kildares is a solid brew pub. A well thought out layout and a nice patio set the right vibe. The food was good although a bit pricey. The dry ribs were full of flavour and tender...which isn’t easy for dry ribs. The caesar salad wasn’t bad but nothing amazing. My mom really enjoyed the chilli lime muscles as the sauce was very flavourful. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back because of the prices but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless.
First of all Zomato has the description wrong. Kildare’s serves some bar food, but mostly dishes like “bacon wrapped chorizo pork tenderloin” - doesn’t sound like “bar food” to me!
I am a fine dining snob and Kildaire’s does a fantastic job with their entrees, their flat breads and their overall service.
The place is packed on the weekends - so make reservations.
It is a well run, classy pub. The kind of place you can take your good friends to have a proper meal (they have excellent salads, too) and enjoy watching the game in a upscale atmosphere without upscale prices.
Really like the inside of this place. Their Caesars are good. Their crispy buffalo chicken sandwich was good but their short rib Mac and cheese is seriously to die for. The short rib is so tender and moist and flavourful and then throw that in to Mac and cheese and I'm in heaven. Only thing I'd leave out if the jalapeños but that's because I'm a wimp.
The atmosphere, decor and food is well above average and better than expected for "Pub food". We just wish the service was more consistent. Ironically, the less busy they are it seems the more the service suffers. Sometimes the service is great and the servers pleasant and professional. But sadly it is a real crap-shoot whether you can expect decent service. On our last visit there were more than one table with a patron wandering around like a lost kid trying to find a server...including us. Twice.
My hope is they can fix the service issue because when it IS good, this is a great place to go. Sadly, you just cant go with confidence you will have reasonable service on any given night.
What a great neighbourhood pub! Sunday brunch was amazing. I'd never tried chicken and waffles before. I know I'll have to go back and have it again.
Favourite neighbourhood pub. Most staff are amazing, some of the day time servers are a little slow to take orders/refill drinks but the food is pretty much always amazing. Saturday nights are our favourites there! Always something going on.
Amazing. Third visit here. Twice for dinner and once for Sunday breakfast. Service is amazing. Food is more creative than majority of the pubs in the area with the skill to execute. Rocket flatbread and Fried egg BLT are a win. Plus can't beat that patio view of empty fields. Forget for a moment you live in a city.
I went there tonight with a friend because it is close to her house. There was so much on the menu that I wanted to try. I asked the waitress (who was super nice and personable) for her advice and she suggested the blackened fish sandwich. I ordered it with a side of the Guinness soup. Absolutely delicious. I wish there was a pub like this near my house!
Three years later and Kildare's continues to offer superior food and service. This may be the best pub in Calgary.
Superior in all respects. I've tried all the neighbourhood pubs, and Kildare's is superior to all its competitors in the South. All of the food that we ordered showed attention to detail and superior culinary skills. Food was fresh. The ambience was wonderful, and our server hit the mark. I didn't expect this place to live up to the hype but it actually surpassed it. And to top it off, the prices were quite reasonable for both food and drink.
Highly recommended.
