We decided to try here after reading about it online.
We had the portabella mushroom and a salad to start. Both were good but the mushroom was absolutely outstanding - so delicious. The bread that we were given too was divine.
We ordered the lasagne and cannelloni for our mains. When our dishes came, there had been a mistake and we got the pasta della casta, instead of the lasagne. We chose to keep it though, instead of waiting for another dish to be made. The lady that took our order and made the mistake was lovely and very apologetic. Both of the pasta dishes were amazing and the best we have had in Calgary. The portions are huge so we got some packed up to save room for dessert.
For dessert, we got the tiramisu. I have had tiramisu elsewhere and not been a fan of it but this tiramisu is the best I have had. So light and tasty. This was removed from our bill since there was a mistake with our mains.
We have found our new favourite Italian restaurant in Calgary and can't wait to return.
My wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Villa Firenzie this past weekend. We have been to the restaurant before, but it's been a few years since we've been back. The food and service was exceptional. A special thank you to Russell who provided excellent service. We will definitely be back.
Hearty Italian food with Andrea Bocelli on the background. Great wine selection, heavenly desserts! I was craving stuffed pasta for a while, and their Seafood Cannelloni perfectly satisfied that craving. The portions are really big. We ended up splitting an appetizer (one of their famous Portobello mushrooms in cheese sauce), my husband got a lasagna. Both of us ended up packing most of our entrées to make sure we have room for dessert. The cheesecake and tiramisu were both fantastic, and the leftovers still tasted great the next day.
I really liked the atmosphere and interior - very comfortable, good dinner lighting, definitely feels like a good authentic Italian restaurant should.
Can't wait to come back!
First time coming to this restaurant. Was a quaint little place tucked away minutes from downtown. The food was superb. The service was top notch too. The stuffed pasta shell was really good and so was the chicken. I would definitely come to this restaurant again whenever I'm in the area.
Best Italian restaurant in Calgary! Hands down the nicest staff, and best meal. The famous mushroom is to die for. Highly recommend this place for special occasions, or when you just want a great consistent meal.
A really lovely Italian dinner out !!! Very nice staff and efficient service. We tried the Portobello mushroom appetizer in a brandy cream sauce, so good !!!! They cut it in half to serve and the sauce is out of this world. There is also fresh warm bread to dip in balsamic and olive oil. I tried the spinach jumbo shells stuffed with a mix of seafood and a rose sauce. It was absolutely fantastic and so filling !!! The veal Gorgonzola with oyster mushrooms was also delightful. Veal in Italian restaraunts always tastes a million times better !!! The veggies were crisp but the potato was not very cooked. Really lovely dinner. Definitely good for a special occasion or date night out !
This restaurant is in a small little house with a surprisingly large parking lot at the back. The house bread was really good and we ordered their portobello mushroom appetizer which was in a creamy seafood sauce and it was amazing. It was literally one of the best appetizer I've ever had.
I had the Lasagna al Forno which was pretty good, slightly too cheesy for me. My girlfriend had the Linguine con Vongole which was not bad. We came here a few years back and I remember ordering their veal but didn't think it was anything special. Will definitely be back to try some of their seafood options.
Also, just a minor note, I was the only person who wasn't wearing a collared shirt. That's probably the reason they asked for ID.
We love it here!! The staff is so welcoming and we love that it's family owned and operated, it seems that everyone there is somehow related. It makes the experience that much more special because they know exactly how the food is made and the care that goes into it. The food is amazing, almost everything is house made! The portobello mushroom appetizer is to die for, the lasagna is ginormous and so tasty, and the chocolate love cake is to die for. Some may say expensive but the portions are enough to feed an army! Quality and quantity, which is rare to find nowadays. Love it!!
Great family run restaurant with a great banquet facility! The portobello mushroom is a must have. And along with there regular menu, their banquet menu options are also awesome! It's has a beautiful warm and welcoming interior.
We spend most of our date nights at Villa. The food is amazing and the family vibe is truly welcoming. The owner and staff spend the time to get to know the customers. The smaller setting is warm and inviting. We feel like we have found a special secret place in the heart of Calgary.
My gal pal invited me to @villafirenze for my birthday. She and I had both never been but she looked for online reviews of Italian Restaurants in Calgary and chose this one because of the reviews. I'm so glad she did as the food, atmosphere and staff were amazing.
I ordered us a bottle of Pinoit Grigio before she got there and they had it chilling at the table ready to go. The wine list was extensive especially for a smaller venue like Villa Firenze with Vino choices for even the most avid wine aficionados.
Our server recommended the Mushroom appy, the proper name escapes me, but boy were we glad. It was absolutely amazing. Not sure of the cream sauce they used with the large portobello mushrooms, but accompanied with the Piniot were terrific. Next the main course. She had the Champaign Veal and I the Gorganzola Veal. Both were to die for and large enough we could barely finish them especially having the appy before hand.
I absolutely would recommend this place to anyone looking for a intimate venue with great food, excellent wine list, wonderful wait staff and priced just above average Italian restaurants serving a similar type of menu. I can assure you the few extra dollars are well worth it. Please make reservations before hand as this place is obviously very popular as it got quite busy even on a Wednesday night at 6 pm.
Excellent dinner. We had the privilege of having Manuel as our waiter. He was outstanding - excellent service. All the food we ordered was very, very good. The only exception was perhaps the veggies were a little underdone but not a huge deal breaker. So good, we’ve already made another reservation for another visit. Grazie!
My understanding is that a lot, if not all, of their noodles are made in house and that makes a huge difference. The food, taste, presentation, atmosphere, and behaviour of staff makes this place a Must go to. I hope everyone will consider this incredibly delicious restaurant now that restrictions have been lifted. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A+++
If you want classical and exquisite Italian flavors, head over to Villa Firenze. It may be a bit quaint, but for authentic tastes, this is the place. They have it all, with a few daily market fresh specials to tease you even more. The service was terrific, wine selection impressive. We'll be back soon.
My wife and I enjoyed our 3 year anniversary here tonight. Delicious food, nice atmosphere, and very very kind servers who showed a lot of care towards our 7 month old.
Will be back!
Had an amazing dinner. We got the gnocchi in bolognese, spinach pasta with black mussels and oyster mushrooms in tomato sauce, and bruschetta. All were fantastic. Staff was also very friendly and made for a pleasant dinning experience.
