Despite the name, let me clarify that this is NOT a cook your ingredients hot pot restaurant. Jo Ju is…kind of similar to Kim Bo Ting in Metrotown, but better in many ways. Originally, I had been hankering to try Hakkaku Ramen a few doors down, but given that it was closed on Mondays, decided to give this place a shot instead.

Came here with the wife to satisfy her seafood craving. We came inbetween eating hours around 3pm. Service was polite and food was great. $24 tax in for 2 x entrees (soup and rice dish) and 2 x bubble teas is good value. Walked out full and happy.

Since I moved to Vancouver to study from Guangzhou, China, I would miss the food of my hometown a lot of the time. Despite Jo Ju being a somewhat new restaurant, it is quite busy which raised my expectations instantly. The interior is very clean and it mirrors the design of a modern small Hong Kong restaurant which was nice to see. As for the food, I ordered the pork cutlet rice dish that was breaded to an really great ratio and the passion fruit black tea which has the perfect amount of sugar. Taste wise, it truly tasted like something you would experience in China. Just for that alone, it was worth every penny.
