Good selection of drinks. Waffles are made upon order, hence fresh and hot. There's shaved ice as well as some sandwiches. Taste wise, the shaved ice was quite good, and so were the waffles.
The greatest thing is, they open till late at nights and the worst is, almost always, it is noisily crowded and loaded by students ... Waffles and drinks are ok but that great though, they don't worth for their prices and the other issue is, this place doesn't accept credit cards, Only Cash and Debit ... comfy furniture, number of plugs, good WiFi, clean area and polite staff ... are considerable.
I was told of Tealips cafe by Awkward Diner a while ago. I was so happy to find that there was a dessert waffle place so close to me. I quickly brought Hitman to try it out with me on a few occasions, for dessert AND for lunch. Our first visit was for dessert after dinner. We had to get it to go since the place was packed. Always a sucker for mochi I picked the Matcha Red Bean Waffle liege style (for it’s chewy consistency). It’s topped with red bean paste, vanilla ice cream, and dusted with matcha powder.
After a very reasonably priced dinner at the nearby Hi Genki Japanese Restaurant, we wanted to go somewhere for some dessert. That’s how we ended up at Cafe Tealips. Located at 7139 Arcola Way behind Highgate Village in Burnaby, Tealips is your typical Vancouver area bubble tea joint. Except it totally isn’t.
I've heard about the wonderful desserts of Tealips for the longest time but have never gone by because 1) I'm never in the area and 2) it was pretty hard to find. No matter, that's what the GPS and food cravings are for! We decided to share a brussels matcha waffle because matcha is the best and the fact that it came with mochi balls had us sold. I liked the brussels waffle and it stayed crispy holding up to the almost melty matcha ice cream on top. I found that it started to get a little too sweet for my liking about a quarter of the way through though because the red bean made everything all the sweeter. But my hojicha latte helped balance it out with the slight bitterness of the tea. I've only ever had hojicha lattes in Asia before so it was nice to have it again. I can't say that it was as good but it came a pretty close second.
This is the best cafe to study at in Burnaby. Good sized tables... And it's not too crowded. The bubble teas they serve are pretty good too.
Cute little place. Came here because of the zomato rating. I had a iced honey lemon green with pearls and my mom had a hot ginger lemon tea. We shared a single liege waffle with mixed berries. Waffle was good - crisp on the outside and a little sugary and soft on the inside. Yummy! Heard it gets busy here - glad there was space for us when we went
Great bubble tea/Korean cafe.
Their bubble teas are above average. Some taste pretty sweet though.
Their shaved ice options are very good. Very authentic Korean shaved ice. It is actually less sweet compared to the ones they sell in Korea hence I personally prefer them.
Lovely cafe. Just park carefully in the parking lot; they are angle parkings. Personally, someone hit my car and ran (so glad I had witnesses). So just park underground or in nearby neighbourhood.
Man I kind of wish I lived I'm this area, there are so many good places to eat. This place I personally found was alright, the waffles itself were mediocre, but I thought it was a nice place to bond with my friend over food and life. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come here again specifically for waffles, but I'm glad I got to try it out. It wasn't on the level of Nero's, so I guess I have high standards. Maybe it'll be worth the try to come back for their shaved ice or drinks.
I came here after going on a shaved ice binge. Their shaved ice is pretty good, the one problem is they give very little condensed milk. That may be because I'm so use to icy bar where they give you a whole squeeze tube of it. I would come back to try some other items on their menu, also because I like the general location of the place.
