My husband and I have been here a couple times and its a delight every time. The servers are friendly and the food is comparable to the ones you get in Korea. We were especially impressed with their bossam.

Hey everyone! How was your week? Alex and I had a pretty busy week. With new changes at work and finals starting soon, we’ve been a little stressed (or at least I’ve been) lately! But seriously though, why does stress = breakouts? My skin has been terrible these days. Thought it would be good (or bad) to get some Korean food! Alex and I love Korean food, it is one of our guilty pleasures. I’m personally not a big fan of spicy food, but sometimes I crave a nice, hot and spicy Korean stew in the winter to keep warm.

To be honest, as soon as I saw that Pickycat had rated this place as a 4 out of 5, I knew that I had to come here! She, and many reviewers are right! This is a very good place for Korean fusion. My partner and I found the service to be quick and gracious. The restaurant is not large but  is very comfortable and modern. We started with Deep Fried Tofu. It came very quickly and was very light in color so that I was suspicious that it had not even hit the oil. But it was hot and crispy and much more delicate than what I expected (sort of expected agedashi tofu). We tried a couple of lunch specials as recommended and we were not sorry. My partner had the Gpanpoong Chicken on Rice. It was amazing! Garlicky and tender and I recommend it to everyone! The shredded cabbage on the side had a sublime wasabi dressing. I had the Gamjatang (pork bone soup) which comes as a single portion at lunch time. There was no room for even one more small bone in that  bowl! Now I'm not sure what good manners dictate but this was difficult to eat with chopsticks. I soon gave into my baser instincts and made a bit of a mess (amazingly, my white shirt survived unscathed) using my fingers. There was so much tender pork on those bones. The broth was wonderful and I loved the greens (that I could not identify...minty?). I concur with Pickycat and other and recommend this place to everyone!

Came here on a Sunday night and it wasn't really busy. They aren't that big of a restaurant, so if you have a large group, a reservation might be a good idea.

We ordered the seafood pancake, LA galbi, and the bossam. The seafood pancake was pretty good. It was crispy and had a decent amount of seafood. Only thing I didn't like was that it looked burnt when it came. But luckily it didn't taste very burnt. The LA galbi was pretty good, but it wasn't that tender and large in portion. I don't think it was really worth it for the price, but it tasted good. My favourite item was the bossam. We actually ordered this after we ordered the first two because we still felt hungry. I'm glad we did. It was very large in portion and the pork belly was really tender and flavourful. It was also presented very beautifully. I would order this dish again. The side dishes were basic with the kimchi radishes, beansprouts, and potatoes. They were good and I got seconds for them.

Overall, food and service was good. I would definitely come back to try out more dishes. Maybe come back for the lunch specials.

Absolutely my favourite Korean restaurant in the Metrotown area! Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and of large portions!

My go-to dish is definitely the seafood tofu soup! You are able to customize the spiciness of your broth to your preference and the soup is packed with shrimp, clams and scallops.

I also ordered the spicy bbq pork belly and squid this time and the dish was a pleasant surprise. The dish was served on a sizzling plate and the portion for a bbq dish priced under $20!

Morak also has lunch specials where you save a couple dollars off of their top menu items. Definitely going to go in for lunch next time and give it a try!

I haven't actually been to the restaurant itself, but I have ordered takeout via Skipthedishes. I've had their Gganpoong Chicken Rice, Bossam, Bongchu Jjim Dak, and BBQ Mackerel.

Gganpoong Chicken Rice ($12.95): 4.5/5; If you like popcorn chicken, you'll love this. It was fragrant and crispy, and the meat was nice and juicy. I ordered during lunch time, so they have a smaller sized version, which is $2 less than their regular size. The "small" size is already quite substantial and enough to make a filling lunch on its own.

Bossam ($23.95): 4.5/5; Probably their most popular dish, and for a good reason. The meat was tender and flavourful. The portion was also generous and enough for probably 4+ people.

Bongchu Jjim Dak ($28.95): 4/5; Although not as outstanding as the other two dishes, it was still very good, with the chicken being very tender and flavourful. Again it was a large portion (1 entire chicken, I think), and perfect for sharing.

BBQ Mackerel ($14.95): 3/5; Although I would have preferred one of their meats (specifically their beef shortribs), since I already have 3 other meats, I felt obliged to get a fish dish instead. It was good for it was. Mackerel does tend to have a "fishy" taste, and although I could detect it in this dish, it wasn't too bad.

I have no idea of what the restaurant is like in terms of ambience or service, but based on their food alone, I'm quite impressed and will continue on ordering from them in the future.

Decent Korean food for decent price! I've only ever gotten their lunch combos and they're pretty good. Their food has gotten better over the years 😋. Good choice for Korean home style food in South Burnaby. And their servers speak English!

Morak Korean Restaurant

Pork Cutlet

Seafood tofu soup with bulgogi
