Third time here and this time our server was a younger Asian guy with permed hair, he was terrific and made the experience so enjoyable!
Unique Menu Items and Good Lunch Specials! It's a nice addition to North Burnaby neighborhood. Good for groups as the menu specializes in large portions. Will go back to try other foods in the future.
Sooda Korean BBQ in Burnaby. The food served here is kind of like the new type of Korean food served at Tabom Korean BBQ. One of the main differences between this type of Korean food from its traditional counterpart is the use of cheese and corn on the BBQ plate. Sooda Korean BBQ is located on Lougheed Highway near Willingdon Avenue in Burnaby.
Sooda has been on my to-try list for quite a while now. Of course, like everyone else, I've been eying their 46 cm sushi creation -- the Sooda Box. The Sooda Box, as the name suggests, is Sooda's specialty dish. It has a similar concept of Vancouver's renowned aburi battera sushi, but with a Korean twist.
Instead of the usual salmon, shrimp, and saba, Sooda's rendition of this dish is created with premium Korean AAA eye round steak tartar slightly torched and charred on top of rice. The Sooda Box creation comes in four different options: Original, Cheese, Honey Garlic, and Butter Mayo. You can get full orders ranging from $24.95 - $27.95 or half orders from $13.95 - 16.95. You can also mix and match different flavours to create a full 46cm sushi board!
I'm absolutely blown away at this fusion twist of the dish. It's not your conventional Korean food. Even looking at battera aburis; they are already unconventional and unique in its own way - in the sense that I'd classify it as a "West Coast" style dish. Sooda takes the innovative dish to another level in such an inventive way.
The beef tartar is delicious. The taste of the tartar is similar to Yukhoe, a korean beef sashimi salad dish. I believe they use a similar method/cut of beef sashimi. We got an half order of honey garlic and original. The Honey Garlic one is served with garlic chips on top while the Original is served with cheese, mayo, and jalepeno. Both of them tasted phenomenal and I can't wait to be back to try the other flavour offerings.
Hello! Sooda is a Korean BBQ restaurant that has taken the place of Firepots. Sooda Korean BBQ is located along Lougheed Highway right across from Whole Foods. It’s been open for a while but I’ve yet to try it until now. Even though I knew that Sooda was the only Korean restaurant in the the Brentwood/Willingdon Heights area, I was surprised as to how many people were waiting at the door when we got there. We had to wait a good 20 minutes for our table but we had to sit at a smaller table and squish together. Everyone after us in the line had to wait at least 30-40 minutes because the restaurant didn’t have a lot of seating and most people had larger parties and stayed for at least an hour.
SOODA KOREAN BBQ is a brand new Korean Restaurant in North Burnaby. The restaurant is located nearby Brentwood Mall Skytrain Station. It's only 5 mins walking distance from the train station. It mainly serves Korean Style BBQ and 18-inch huge sushi rolls. My co-worker always wanted to eat at this place with me, but we were always busy and did not get a chance to go. Finally, I got a chance, had a dinner at Sooda Korean BBQ last month with my boyfriend.
Last month, My boyfriend and I were there for dinner. We arrived at the restaurant around 6pm on the weekday. It was not very busy there. We quickly sat down and began to order our dinner. We had SOODA FRIES and two different kinds of SOODA BOXes to share. After we ordered the food, the server brought several small cold dishes to the table, such as Kimichi, Sweet Potato, and etc. MMM Kimichi was my favorite. It was great in large sized of the portion. About 10 ~ 15 mins wait, Our food came out of the kitchen. Sooda Fries is Fries topped with bulgogi, kimchi, onion, corn and variety sauces. The taste of fries was very different from normal fries. It was more likely like Poutine but in Korean Style. It was a unique experience for us. The taste was awesome. We also had two SOODA BOXes to share. BUTTER MAYO SOODA BOX Half $13.95 (46 cm of premium Korean steak tartar torched on top of rice with mayo sauce and dried parley) and CHEESE SOODA BOX Half $16.95 (46 cm of premium Korean steak tartar torched on top of rice with mozza). Both of the Sooda Boxes were tasty and delicious. The rice was very soft. Comparing with normal sushi, we love Sooda 18 inch huge sushi rolls more. Great taste and Great sized of portions.
The price of the food was all around $11 ~ $20, which was a very great deal. In summary, we enjoyed our dinner at Sooda Korean BBQ. We would like to try more food at Sooda Korean BBQ in the future. Great portion, Great taste, and Great experience.
The dakgalbi dish with marinated chicken, corn, cheese, rice and green onions was DELISH😍😍 liked how it is cooked on that wide flat surface, it's fun to mix all together! Also liked their sushi dishes👏 probs one of my fave korean places in north burnaby!
Sooda Korean BBQ is a relatively newish Korean restaurant that opened up around May 2017 that is situated in the former Fire Pots location. Evidence of the former restaurant can be seen with the Fire Pots branding still displayed on the in-laid table elements as well as the fire pots hanging from the ceiling.
Finally a GREAT korean bbq. Not cheap but top quality meat. Service is great amd friendly and meats were top notch not like your typical Korean bbq. Great twist on kim chi they use fresh cabbage instead of fremnting it, gave kim chi a fresh twist and those yummy potatoes.
