I had regular Miso soup, with the fattier meat, and H had the rich Shio with the fatty pork. It was marvelous. One of the best bowls of ramen I’d had, the soup was full of flavour, even without ordering the rich version. Can’t go wrong with the pork belly! Reminder to add an egg next time because the Miso doesn’t come with one. I’ll try the leaner cut of meat next time too, just to see the difference.
The ramen was average... the chasuu was delicious. Felt like the bowl needed more different types of ingredients to give it more texture. It was well priced so it gets an extra 0.5.
Delicious curry ramen. Highly recommend for curry lovers. I got mine with rich broth and pork shoulder. The noodles they use here are thin, yet with enough thickness for a soft and chewy experience.
Very satisfying. The ramen comes with a good amount of ingredients, unlike the majority of other places that charge you for 'toppings,' nice thick chewy noodles, and fairly heavy and rich soup. The most satisfying part during our visit was the chashu, which was, in my mind, very nicely charred and flavored. All of this for a very reasonable price too. For ramen fans who don't live in Burnaby, the location might be the only downside.
Nice ramen place in Burnaby. It's no comparison to some of the ones in downtown Vancouver but its good for the area.
I always get the vegetable ramen and add the chashu, as it seems to come with more toppings vs the ones that already come with the chashu.
I have been here on four separate occasions and they are consistent. Satisfactory place to come to if you don't want to head downtown.
I wanted Ramen for lunch so I searched up restaurants nearby. I also wanted to try a new place. First time here and didn't know what to expect. It's a small place. Better to get there before 12pm like we did to avoid waits. The portion is big! I ordered the Miso ramen with the rich type soup. The soup had lots of flavor but it is a bit too greasy for me. I'm not sure what the regular soup type is, but will try that next visit.
Omg. Flavourful. Good portions nice service. I had the vegetable ramen, husband had the spicy miso ramen. We both got the rich broth and the extra noodles and we both were unable to finish because we were so full. I will be back!!
Lately, it seems that I’ve been on a bit of a ramen binge….there are just so many undiscovered little joints out there…with many actually residing outside of the Downtown core! The subject of today’s visit is Hakkaku Ramen, a little hole in the wall noodle shop located a couple of doors down from Jo Ju Tofu Hotpot, which I had visited a few weeks prior. I had heard that they offered extra noodles for free during lunch, as part of their lunch special combo, but found out that was only valid during lunch from Tuesdays to Fridays (damn!).
I order the spicy ramen with the pork shoulder chasu. I think its great value for what you get and the taste is good. Normal downtown ramen places charge extra for egg and such whereas all the items are included in your bowl here. I say thumbs up and try it! no line ups!
Ramen was quite good at this restaurant. Ordered two combos. One was miso-based, the other one was shio-based. The combo was quite filling for $13. It includes ramen and a bowl of rice. However, I think the chashu was not enough, so we ordered extra chashu on top. Overall good experience, the broth was strong enough and noodles were great. Will come visit again if I'm around the area.
