The best place for breakfast in Burnaby by far, if not the lower mainland. This place has been a not-so-secret " hidden"gem for many many years. "Mom" is an amazing cook, and she busts her ass in the kitchen by herself day after day after day, so you might have to wait a little bit for your perfection to arrive, but ALWAYS worth it. The grilled subs are to die for as well, steak and capocollo being at the top of the list. Moved away, so don't get to come here as often, which is just a damn shame. Still number one, always will be. Thanks Mom!!!

It was only our first time, but we know we will definitely come back again!! The wait could be long, and some people left, but hey Jeff’s right, just be calm and relax, it creates such a great atmosphere for you to chat away with whoever is there with you! The wait is worth it!! Egg bennies were delicious especially with the hollandaise sauce on top and the Ukrainian saucage yum, made me feel like home :) thank you to the amazing lady that cooked such delicious food! See you!!

This is a small casual joint that, as the name suggests, specializes in sandwiches, although they do also serve up various breakfast/lunch items. I had their Bacon Double Cheese Steak and Super Sub to go, and both were quite good. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but I do think that they are good quality and worth the cost. The food did take a little while to prepare, but I really can't complain too much since there was just one older lady (who was quite friendly) running the shop when I visited. All in all, this is definitely worth a visit for a good, loaded sandwich.

6" Bacon Double Cheese Steak ($10):
4/5
This contained bacon, cheese, and ribeye steak, along with mayonnaise and barbeque sauce. I did have this to go, and unfortunately, the bread did get a soggy from being wrapped in foil. That was okay though, for I do actually like softer bread over crispy. Although it didn't really look very big, it was quite heavy and loaded with filling. The meats were tender and flavourful, and I really enjoyed the barbecue sauce, which provided a great sweetness to accompany the salty meats.

6" Super Sub ($10):
4/5
This contained steak, salami, capocollo and mushrooms. The sandwiches were seriously over-stuffed: I actually had trouble eating it since I've got a smaller mouth. The meats were all very flavourful and savoury, without being overly salty. Again, the bread did get a little soggy from the trip home, but was still tasty and actually held up well to all the filling.

Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 3.5/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 3.5/5
Recommendations: Bacon Double Cheese Steak, Super Sub

Now that Jared has disgraced Subway, there has to be a new way for subs. Who are we kidding? Subway always sucked. It was seemingly just the only fast food option available besides burger and fries joints.

So where else can you get a sub? How about Paul's Sub Shop! I'll cut to it because I'm going to lose you if I already haven't to the ADD epidemic.

I ordered the 6" Paul's Super Sub for $10 tax included.

Yes, it does sound pricey given that the 12" version will cost you $19. Definitely sounds like a sandwich for heroes. I'll agree that it feels expensive but it's worth it because you will not find subs like this in many places if at all. It's about supply and demand.

Paul's Super Sub is a stir-fry of sliced steak, capocollo, mushrooms and the rest of Paul's standard innings(grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, edam cheese) on white or brown.
It gets messy but it's greasy sub heaven in your mouth. The insides will have already fallen out when the plate arrives assuring that there is no chance of you crying about lack of substance in your submarine.

You can get a crappy 6" sub from Subway that is guaranteed to suck or you can get one from Paul's for a few bucks more and get something for your money. Just to let you know, Paul is an older woman and I don't think her name is Paula.

Eat in or take-out. There are other items on the menu as well such as breakfast and hamburgers.

Such friendly service. The little European lady who owns the shop is so cute. She treats her customers like her own kids! My friend and I arrived early in the morning when they first opened and the food took about 35min to cook. If you're in a rush in the morning, I wouldn't recommend coming here. I ordered the Ukrainian Sausage Breakfast ($11) and it came with two pieces of toast, 2 eggs (I like mine poached), hash browns (home made & delicious!) mixed with Ukrainian sausage. The coffee is self serve and the last charges you after for it. Mostly a self serve little kitchen. I would definitely come back to try the subs :)

Unique. This place is best known for its grilled subs on fresh buns generous size and quite delicious. I recommend dinning in. I don't think the sandwiches lend themselves well to packing . I've had a burger here and it was just ok. I'm sticking with the sandwiches. Pretty much all of them I've tried have been really great. It's not cheap but McDonald's or subway isn't cheap anymore either. I recommend trying the special sub. Service can be slow at times. Bit of a chip worn on a shoulder here but I'm not here to make friends.

This little gem is one of my favorite places in South Burnaby. Good selection of grilled and cold subs, and an amazing All Day Breakfast menu. Portions are large and all freshly made. The lady who runs the place is lovely. I will forever be a regular customer :)

Best Subs in Burnaby. Paul's grilled Subs are extremely tasty.
As someone who makes my own subs at home, I've never really been able to enjoy a chain restaurant sub. Subway has a variety of veggies which is nice, but the bread, meats and cheese just feel cheap and tasteless. Quiznos is a wee step up but really not much better. Mr.Sub and various others do the job of filling you up, but its certainly not something to talk about.

I'm primarily a fan of classic Italian oven subs, but the grilled sub interested me so I took a chance after walking by this unassuming place.

The restaurant looks like a country kitchen and the staff is overly serious. But, they are also serious about their subs - huge portions, perfectly grilled, and flavoured to perfection.

It seemed to take forever to get our order, but wow..it was really worth the wait. These people really know their subs! A half sub is more filling than a typical subway sub, so don't let the price scare you. You will easily get two meals out of a full one.

I highly recommend trying this place out if you enjoy a hearty sub.

Legit Satisfaction. First try and wont be the last. Will please your sandwich cravings for sure. Only downside is it's pretty pricey.... but will make you full. Nice Euro lady running the show at lunch so you know it's made to order.

The real deal for sub`s and brekky. Love this place!! Now...take notice of this if you like fresh delicious subs, but if you think subway is good then it might be too late to help you. Awesome lady who makes everything the old school way, and ive never had a bad meal there. Always fresh and fabulous....and the brekky there is awesome. If you are a nickle and dimer, dont go and whine about the fact that it isnt cheap....quality dont come cheap and they only take cash!!

Wow! We had a great experience and the one lady show made it all happen. When we got there we noticed two tables with customers, one customer waiting for take out and some tables that customers just finished and left. As the lady was cooking she quickly turned around and asked if we made reservations we told her no. She said sorry no tables available, if you want to eat here you will have to wait as she had a lot of orders to fill and to sit at the waiting area. Since there was only one seat I stood and looked at the menu. It seemed pricey and the menu items seemed very familiar to a place I used to go to in Richmond called Bob's sub. She kept looking back at me standing so she stepped out of the kitchen and cleaned off the table and offered it to us. She apologized that she was really busy and we would have to wait a bit. We then figured out she was doing everything herself...cuttkng fresh veggies, cooking, taking orders over the phone...etc. When she finished a couple order she came over quickly to take our orders. We ordered the 12 inch super sub and the Ukrainian sausage breakfast. When she brought our food talked with us a bit, apologized again and was stepping up the service. I think she even gave me some fries and onion rings with my sub. I don't recall it being part of the super sub on the menu. Food was perfect diner food. We finished all of it and it hit the spot. I will ask if they had any connection to Bob's sub in Richmond. Oh yes the sub was pricey but I thought it was worth it.

Quintessential ma and pa shop with the sweetest lady who does it all. The decor is really dated but otherwise spacious. I got the double bacon cheese steak sub and my wife got the BLT and both were quite tasty and filling. The price is a bit higher compared to some places but it hits the spot and there are so many options available! Overall first impression was very good so we'll be doing back to try the other foods again soon.

Sometime it is nice to go to genuine place like this one, I just like those little small cozy place that offer you basic decorations but offers a food made with love. Yes, made with love. I enjoy every bite of the food as it’s delicious and cooked well. Service is great. Nostalgic experience.

What a selection of sandwiches to eat! Tons of sandwiches, burgers and breakfast option. I got a 6' Paul's Special and I feel like I'm good for a few days, it was so filling. The pricing might seem a bit much, the portion size are nuts. Only get a 12' if you really, really ... Really hungry! The lady making the sandwiches is also very lovely ☺️

This place is such a gem. It’s so cute!! I loved the way the lady talks to you and makes you feel at home. You can tell by the food that she puts so much love into it. And the hash browns no one does them like that now. Love this place and will definitely come back!

A hidden gem in Burnaby! One of the best subs I’ve had! Although the wait time is so long, it was definitely worth the wait! The subs were packed. I got the 12” Cold Italian Sub, it was packed with good quality meat and cheeses. The bread was also fresh. I would recommend you share the 12” because of how much meat and cheese they put in the subs. It was delicious! If you have the time, and are craving a hefty sub I would recommend this place for you! And make sure to bring your appetite!
