This place has always been my comfort food place since 2006, I love their kimchi hotpot. The last time I ate here was 2016 and it tasted bad.
3 years later, I decided to try it out again and thought if it's still bad then ok, I'll never be back again. Turned out, it's back to the original taste with more stuff in it, crab stick, oden, fish ball, etc. Love it! Brings so much memories ❤️
Had Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot long times again. I was not really like it when I first time tried. Few days ago, my coworker and I had lunch at Han Ju Tofu hotpot again. We had a great experience eating there.
Han Ju Tofu Hot Pot is an Asian restaurant located on Kingsway in Crystal Mall. The food in this restaurant is cheap, so it always has lots of people eating here. Since the restaurant is nearby my work, I had lunch with my coworker at this place around lunch time.
The restaurant looks different from last I was there. Inside the restaurant is small and clean. Since we arrived at the restaurant early. We got a table and began ordering our lunch fast. I had Korean Style Kimchi Noodle and my coworker had Sesame oiled Chicken Soup with Thin Noodles. Both of our food came out of the kitchen fast. The soup was boiling hot. and the taste was great. The price of the food was cheap under $10.
Highly recommend people to have a try.
Fast service and polite staff. We ordered for takeout and it arrived very quickly, but very warm and tasty. I recommend the Kimchi BBQ pork on rice, Taiwanese chicken nuggets, and egg milk tea ! Very delicious, I’ll definitely be going there again.

Boy do I have a great story to tell!
But first, a little about my experience. BF & I went at around 7:30pm & it was busy (it's a small restaurant). The older waitress took our order quickly & the food came fairly quickly as well. Although the portion looked small at first (compared to Boiling Point), I had a hard time finishing it. (I had the kimchi hot pot). Also, I'm not paying nearly as much as I would have at Boiling Point so there's really nothing to complain about. Service was fine, they did their job, was professional and didn't give attitude. This isn't some fancy high end restaurant, it would be unreasonable to expect more. Overall, my experience was fine & I would return for a casual meal.
The thing that made me give them a 15% tip is how they handled this other couple. Bullet points to summarize:
- couple got seated next to us, the girl freaked out b/c she touched the table which was still wet from being wiped down... waitress came back to wipe it again.
- Girl also freaked out because a kid dropped his empty plastic bottle on the floor and it touched her leg. I can't tell if she was shocked or disgusted. She couldn't believe this terrible thing happened to her.
- after a few mins, they moved to another table b/c the girl didn't want to be next to the door. After they ordered, they moved again to another table.
At this point, I'm getting annoyed. Yet, I'm impressed the waitresses haven't told her (or them) to sit their ass down. It's a small place & it's hard to enjoy your food when someone keeps table hopping with all their shit.
- their food arrived & the girl freaked out about her food without even tasting it. Apparently, it's too spicy. lol wtf.
- they took her food back to the kitchen & gave her a new pot. What gets me is... this girl was SOO upset. Face in her hand, she was on the verge of TEARS. Her partner had to console her (what the actual f***?!?)
At this point, I turned to my BF & said, I bet you she's going to demand to leave without paying for their food because she's so upset.
- older waitress (maybe she's the owner?) came to their table and explained to her what had happened with the order. From what I gathered, the restaurant gave her what she ordered & it's not really their fault she expected it to look like something else. The waitress probably just wanted to let them know that although they switched her food, she has to understand there wasn't an error.
- This girl, obviously suffering from some serious princess sickness, lost her shit on this waitress. (b/c customers are always right, correct?NO. That's a bullshit rule, & you know it if you've ever worked in customer service).
- anyway, they got into a heated argument and the big spoiled brat storms out of the restaurant with her partner following her & picking up after her b/c she's dropping shit everywhere on the ground. I'm pissed on behalf of the restaurant b/c they wasted food (keep in mind this is already the replacement food) and they didn't pay for the bill.
15% tip for not punching her in the face when she was playing musical chair in the restaurant. and especially when she was being a goddamn entitled pain in the ass. Sad to know these people exist. I'm at least glad to see the older waitress standing up for herself & not putting up with the bullshit.
This place is my go to place whenever I want some comfort food (noodle soup) for cheap. Their Kimchi pork on rice is another popular item and safe choice.
It used to be my favor resturant for Koren hot pot, but menu changed and not as good as before... the ingredients in the hotpot are way less than before.
The serving size is pretty substantial for the price. I can during dinner and ordered the vegetarian hot pot, which was conveniently portioned and kept me full. As for taste, I thought everything was pretty standard. Nothing stood out, but nothing was bad either.

Delicious and great value!
Han Ju offers up delicious pan-asian fare and is often packed with loyal customers. I used to visit this place every day for lunch for nearly a year.
Their pork on rice plate is exceptionally tasty. It would be unsual to be the only one eating this signature dish there. It consists of sweet tender pork slices with onion and just enough sweetness, an egg, tofu, a mix of 2 seasonal veggies, rice and a miso soup to start it off. I guess it could be compared to a korean bbq pork dish, mixed with chinese and a japanese soup? The amount is just right for a mid-age guy with a decent appetite. There is also a kimchi version of the dish
Their tender beef on rice is also quite nice, and works equally well in their spicy beef soup. If you're in the mood for deep-fried, the chicken cutlets are far tastier than the typical bubble cafe versions nearby.
Prices are very reasonable (Less than $10) for a reasonable healthy and filling meal. Like most restaurants in the area, the decor leaves a bit to be desired. What looks like Random wood flooring lines the walls in clashing colors. The lighting is moodless and seating designed to pack as many people in as the small space will allow.
Despite the delicious food, on cold days I sometimes pass by. The doors are occasionally left wide open and it's just too cold in sit and eat comfortably. At times everyone is the restaurant is wearing jackets as they eat. I'm not sure if they are just preparing for deliveries, or the cooks in the back are too hot, but either way, I find it disrespectful to the customer.
The servers are friendly and reasonably fast. Sometimes at prime hours you might need to wait in a short line by the door, but they do a good job of seating people efficiently. I was confused the first few times I went there because they don't bring the bill to the table. You are expected go to the counter and pay.
If want a nice filling, balanced meal for less than $10, give it a shot. It's a no brainer.

This place has one of the best tofu soup's in town! I always get their Kimchi Soup which is about $8 - comes with a bowl of rice (but has vermicelli noodles in the soup too). Super cheap and fast (but not great) service. Chinese/Mandarin owned and operated. Located on the outskirts of Crystal Mall so you can park downstairs or on the street (pay park). Turn over is really fast so food is quite fresh. Fried chicken nuggets are also yummy ♥
