They need a 6 star rating for this place! Randomly came across it when searching for a good seafood restaurant to visit to celebrate my birthday and this place definitely did not disappoint! Well worth the 1+ hr drive. The house made champagne vinaigrette oyster sauce was to die for!
As a very particular person with my attention to detail and customer service experience with my years in food service I must say I was very impressed with the dining experience we had. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived, arranged nicely on the table menus for appetizers, meal and wine lists. Our server Laura! Friendly, fast and attentive! The food!!!! Drinks were brought and checked on regularly...... Oh my the food, 4 apps hit the table and did not remain there long! DELICIOUS! All was amazing from the in house Lobster Ravioli to the Fish Tacos and yum! The Seafood Linguine was so so good!!! Almost couldn’t finish it as the portion was very generous! Thank you for making the start of our evening so wonderful! Looking forward to returning to enjoy more menu items !!!!
Oh!!! And the complementary Birthday dessert!!! Sinfully good! Thanks to Mark who booked our reservation as we really enjoyed our experience!!
Love Jakes! One of the best places in Burlington. Everyday from 3-6 they have an afforable happy hour menu that includes affordable oysters and seafood starters.
Compared to our last visit, the environment was definitely more hectic. Noise levels were significantly greater, and the food quality had been sacrificed as a result of the increase in volume of customers.
The Crab & Endive Salad was a mound of heavily salted stringy crab meat, with a side of fruit gelee that didn't taste too fruity and contained a tad too much gelatin. The "drizzle" of truffle oil on the Vegetable Ravioli was more like a pool of grease; the ravioli wasn't even ravioli either - the flat circular pieces of pasta contained no filling and were simply laid at the bottom of the oil-covered dish. The Mahi Mahi wasn't bad, though it suffered from the same greasy circumstances.
Finishing off with the Apple Crisp had undoubtedly been a good decision: while the dessert was still too sweet for our tastes, it proved to be a nice way to cut through the excess saltiness of the entrees we had already consumed.
A very casual dining atmosphere. We weren't sure what to expect because of the prices of their dishes on the menu so we dressed up a bit more, but it was more of a sports bar atmosphere and loud at that. Food is excellent though and the place is hopping! We got steaks, lobsters and calamari and no complaints here except the sides were a bit bland/boring. Service could be a bit better for the price you are paying on your meals but again, sports bar atmosphere...just a bit of disconnect.
Great calamari!. We got a chance to taste their superb grilled calamari (soft and chewy) and their Margherita Bruschetta. Good size serving and reasonable price.
Great Food and Service. We went here based on reviews for my mothers birthday and we were not disappointed. we had oysters to start and they came out very well presented and tasted even better. Ordered pickerel and yellow fin tuna blackened... both were perfectly cooked. for dessert they brought out a birthday dessert of creme brulé... all in all a great experience and will go back again soon.
I was truly suprised....I'm never one for restaurants in or on the same property of a hotel. The food was delicious and they really have a wood grill! I'll be back for sure!
Consistenty Great. We've been to Jake's on several occasions and were extremely happy every visit. The mussels in combo wine/tomato sauce are fantastic as is the bread which accompanies them. We've had the calamari, the fish and chips, other fish specials, the ribs, the burger and all are delicious.
Fab food!. My husband and I ate there last night,we sat on the patio outside...
Service was freindly, attentive and helpful..No issues what so ever.
We ate our whole meal off the Happy Hour Menu,4pm-6pm.
1 Doz oysters, yummy, crab cake, mussels, crab and lobster roll and wonton wrapper filled with crab /cream cheese..Except for the WONTONS,everything was very delicious.well presented and flavourful..The wontons was a bit mushy for us both.
2 glasses of wine and 2 Rickards red.
All of that and 4 drinks came to $70.... Very good quality and service,We will return very soon as it had been a while since we had been there before...
YUMMY for my TUMMY!!

Good food but poor service. Tonight we tried this casual place for dinner. We started off with mussels in wine sauce which were done to perfection. It was accompanied with fresh warm bread that melted in the mouth. I then went with the Taste of Burlington selection of beef brisket quesadillas in a BBQ sauce. These were so good. The BBQ sauce was perfect with a sweet and tangy blend. My main course was lightly dusted perch pan fried dinner. The perch was fresh and the breading perfect. It was crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside. My daughter had the Atlantic salmon and said it ws fresh and done perfectly. I also thought the white chocolate raspberry creme brule was fabulous when I got home. I ate it at home because I couldn't stand being in the place for another minute. After being served our dinner the waitress took our drink glasses off the table (free refills) and left us with a half glass of water to eat our meal with. We then watched for a full 20 minutes and we didn't even see her in the place to call her over. Another waitress noticed us searching and asked us if we wanted anything. I didn't feel like waiting for anything else so we just packed up our meal and the dessert ( Price fix) and went home to make my own tea for my dessert. I always give a place a second try. I am hoping service is better because I really did enjoy the meal.
Want to love it, but... sleepy service mars it. Pros:
- Fresh Seafood
Cons:
- Lethargic Service even in an empty restaurant.
- Tasty but overly Salty Chowder
- Small amount of fish on Halibut Fish & Chips
- Peach Creme bruelle was paint-peelingly sweet-
- No Kids Menu offered... although it appears that they have one on the web
