Popped in here for a quick lunch cause my coworker and I were craving a Fat Boy and fries. While perusing the menu on the Zomato app on the way there, I learned that this particular location serves kebab in addition to burgers...
This was a total game changer causing quite the dilemma as I really wasn't remotely in the mood for kebab (and I didn't know what that was). My colleague noticed that everyone else was eating kebab so we might as well follow along.
Service was quick, we had our koobideh kebab to our tables in less than 10 minutes. The kebab was well cooked as it was very tender, though I would have preferred it to be more flavorful. It comes with a large plate of rice that I had to eat this with and it would have been nice if there was some more flavor to the meat. Some sauce would've been nice but apparently they don't serve kebab with sauce...
If you've ever had shawarma, I would compare that as being the Cadillac and kebab being the Chevrolet. They are kind of the same thing, essentially meat on a stick. Except kebab doesn't come with fancy side salads, no fried potatoes or seasoned rice, and no garlic sauce or hummus. You get a grilled tomato, served with white rice, a pat of butter, and some olives and super spicy raw onions. Also, you're provided with seasoning salt and regular salt to add to your tastes.
Perhaps it's just me and I like the fancy platters you can get at the various shawarma and donair places around town. Of course my judgement is likely also being mired from having originally expecting a greasy burger and fries.
I have been to this place everyday in the past week. If you are into Persian cuisine or looking to trying koobideh (kebabs) as shown in the photo, this is the place to go to. The owners (husband and wife) run the place and although they don't speak English fluently, their sincerity and warmth transcends the barrier. Servings are very generous, price is affordable and the smell of the kebabs are divine. Next time, I'll try their burgers.
This place was indeed a surprise. This is the only George's I know that serves Kebabs, and they are Superb. They are served with rice and a side of tomato, onion, butter and olives. You can mix these ingredients to your liking and they just work together perfectly. Their kebabs are just juicy, savoury, and freshly cooked. Also the guy in charge was very kind. He even taught us how to eat the Kebab properly (mix the butter with the tomato and rice). Overall, a good place to go for Persian Kebab and Rice.
