Wok House Restaurant

We came here on Friday, Feb 12th after driving by the location for more than three years, wondering what it was like. As the parking lot is usually full, we figured it was a safe bet that this place was pretty good. The interior isn't fancy, but the menu had lots of great choices and the photos looked beautiful! We ordered two Spring Rolls, Hot & Sour Soup, Wok House Deluxe Vegetables, Honey Lemon Chicken (Spicy), Ginger Beef (Spicy) Breaded Shrimp and Wok House Deluxe Fried Rice. Seems like a lot of food for two people, and it was, but who doesn't love left over Chinese food the following day? The server was very friendly, and the Spring Rolls came quite quickly, and were piping hot, followed by the soup. It was a large bowl, and we knew that if we ate the soup we would be taking most of everything else home, so we slowed down right there. I'm not a huge fan of Hot & Sour Soup, so next time I would try the Deluxe Wonton Soup instead. Here's where the service stalled a bit, which was curious because there were not too many people in the restaurant, and the take-out business seemed to slow down from the steady pace it was when we first arrived. The rest of the dishes finally started arriving at our table, and they all came out in succession. The Breaded Shrimp were delicious, a good large size, and hot. They were covered in a light breading. We also ordered the Sweet & Sour Sauce to dip the shrimp into. The sauce could have been a bit more sour. The Vegetables were stir-fried to perfection, and they were piping hot as well. We also enjoyed the Ginger Beer, the Honey Lemon Chicken and the Fried Rice. Everything came out looking beautiful, tasting delicious, and served at the proper temperature. We took home a lot of leftovers, but they were almost as good the second day, and we still have soup for another day. I am very impressed with the food at this restaurant, and will be sure to return, or call for take out. Now that we've discovered this gem, we will keep it on our radar!

Friday, May 13th had a craving for Chinese, so we came back. There were several people waiting in the doorway for takeout, and lots of muttering around us about how slow they were today. There was another party of three that had been waiting for a table and weren't seated. When we entered I told the girl at the front "two for the restaurant" and although there were several tables empty they were all covered in dirty dishes. Something tells me today is not a good day. We sat down and looked at the menu, decided what to order, and the server just wasn't coming back. The table of three didn't get any service so they left. Another couple told the server they'd been waiting for their food for over an hour. The people at the door waiting for their takeout food didn't seem to be moving very fast either. We got up and left, because it seemed like today they were understaffed, and overworked. Not a good experience. Will we come back again? Not sure. There are other Chinese restaurants in the area, and so we went there instead of staying here to see just how bad the service was going to be.

For the most part I like it. I used to always order from ocean king but ever since they got new owners it's terrible and I have been on the hunt for a new place to order from. Delivery was really slow I had to wait 2 hrs but the food was hot and delivery was free. The food over all tasted good but the wontons had zero meat in them which was a bit if a disappointment. The chow Mein tasted different then other chow Mein I've had but in a good way. This place is also a bit more expensive from other places I've ordered from but for me it's all about the taste and I would order from here again.

Great Food. Fresh, great tasting dishes. We ordered from this place many times and have never been disappointed. Their consistency is spot on.

Good food and prices .... I liked the food and prices are decent. Highly recommend honey garlic spicy beef. One complaint...cantonese chow mein had way too many veggies, not enough noodles! But I like the flavours of all dishes we ordered. Tip: Don't order around dinner time, they can't handle rushes...2 hour wait, with no apologies
