I love the Bake Oven my family at Kelekis had along and happy association with them and I still drive out there to get their delicious buns and breads. A small jewel in the city
Staff is amazing, thank you for welcoming me.
It was absolutely wonderful meal, and I will definitely be back!
Stopped in for a meal with my husband today as I had not been here in years and he had never tried it. My husband ordered the breakfast with eggs, sausage and toast. I tried the chef salad. The portions were generous and I loved that the chef salad came with egg salad instead of a boiled egg and beautiful presentation. The service was very fast and friendly. Prices were reasonable. A very cozy little restaurant.
The store that adjoins the restaurant has all sorts of different treats from the Netherlands and an excellent bakery selection.
This place will no doubt make it into our regular rotation. Recommended.
Came to this little hidden gem of a restaurant with my friend today. We had the Thursday special dinner, which was Schnitzel with red cabbage, coleslaw and fries. We had a coupon for buy one dinner, get the second for 1/2 price. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The Schnitzel was a tad overdone, but delicious nonetheless.
The red cabbage was delicious, and the coleslaw had an oil/vinegar dressing which is my favourite. They also had a wine special at $3.99 per glass. The fries were homemade and very good. We got there about 5pm and they weren't busy, but several more tables filled while we were there. This is a cute little place with a very well-stocked European Deli/Bakery/Specialty Grocery attached. And they make their own baked goods. We didn't buy anything to take home, but the selection was very generous, the prices very reasonable and it all looked very tempting. Now that I've discovered this place I will definitely be back . . . . it is a diamond in the rough!
I've driven by this place 1000x and I'm so happy that today I stoped and went in! My friend and I each ordered the special - Rueben Sandwich- she had hers with fries & I had mine with the soup of the day (which was creamy butternut squash). Everything took maybe 5 to 10mins to make and tasted heavenly! Even the two little pickles on the side were perfectly sweet and sour! Our food total was $22 and some change. Support local! And celebrate little corner stores/restaurants like those one in our city!
I've actually never sat down for a meal here, but I've been ordering cakes from this place since it was located on Munroe! Best cake ever! Super light, whipping cream style icing, not too sweet. The cake itself is to die for with mandarin oranges slices and peaches. A must try!!
Excellent food. Great service. The deserts and cookies are as good as home made. The restaurant has amazing food. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
I frequent this establishment often as I live close by. Great bakery! I love the cake, Kaiser Schinken and Rosemary Ham! Delish!! This was the 1st time I ever ate in the restaurant. I had the pea soup and chicken club sandwich. Very good and very affordable! One more reason to patronize this mom & pop store.
The bake oven. I shopped at their original location on Munroe Ave in EK 40 years ago...loved the double raisin loaf the round cherry loaf and especially the fresh fruit cake!! For all special occasions!!, also excellent selection of cheese
Great Desserts For One. This is a great place to pick up small amounts of delicious deserts if you're a bachelor like me, who doesn't want to buy a whole nanaimo cake just to satisfy the craving for one or two bars.
Exceptional Cake. I generally do not like birthday cakes; but this cake and the icing were light as a feather with no cloying sweetness. Try the chocolate and mandarin. I had two pieces.
Raisin Bread. This bakery bakes the BEST raisin bread ever! It is called "double raisin bread" and is so delicious and packed full of raisins. My mom has been buying it for at least the past 15 years. Definitely a must if you come here! They also have a good selection of cheese and homemade meats/sausages with some exotic choices (such as horse jerky). I would never try that personally, but to the adventurous eater it might be good.
Such a nice little store, they make the best double raisin bread. Also tried the chicken croquettes and they are very good. I love the variety of Dutch products, my go-to place for friet mayonnaise. Very nice staff as well, very helpful. Highly recommend this place.
Some serious home cooking here people! The service is awesome and the food is sooooo awesome! Been to the bake shop, really good, felt like a kid again in the place. Then came back for breakfast, have not had a better breakfast. Hash browns cooked perfectly, eggs very good. Oh ya and the coffee is good to. Did I mention staff is awesome? Ya they are!
Been looking for great mom and pop breakfast place in Winnipeg, I'm happy to report I've found it. The food quality it top knotch, prepared excellently and is super tasty. I'm not a sweets in the morning type, but their cinnamon toast is just so stellar that I am a convert. The other stand out for me was the bacon. I should also point out the staff, who are friendly and attentive. This is a hidden gem. Loved it and plan to make it a regular destination.
I love this place! Even tho it's small & may have less of a selection since the pandemic, it still has all the essentials that let me taste or make many Dutch foods & treats. The restaurant since being re-vamped has so much more selection for authentic Dutch meals than before. I loved it then but I love it even more now. Makes me miss & feel close to Holland again.
The food there is delicious!! Gotta try their breakfast poutine 🤌🏼 this place is one of those hidden jems that needs to be discovered.
