This place was even nicer than we had anticipated. The staff were friendly, answered an excessive amount of questions about the menu, and were more than accommodating. This place quickly became packed as people poured in after 10pm so clearly it's a new hot spot in the exchange district. Great atmosphere and the drinks were top notch!
Everything was amazing. The decor, food, service and drinks were excellent!
One of my absolute favorite spots in the city :) excellent atmosphere, very cozy, and excellent and complex cocktails! If you have an open mind to trying new drinks then you'll love this place.
Love it! Drinks are fantastic and the staff really know their stuff. I really enjoyed one drink on the menu but wanted to try something different; bartender suggested a different variation that was off the menu. Really great drinks and the food is great to snack on too- especially the olives
New favourite! Love this place, awesome creative drinks , staff was wonderful, walking distance to lots of great restaurants. Awesome for a drink or to go for the night ! Didn't try the food but I will for sure me back !
Atmosphere is great. I love the vibe and the big old looking chairs and the fireplace. Can I live here? And the cocktails are premium. Theyre not cheap but if you want a great drink loke REALLY great, go here.
Atmosphere is great. A lot of love and attention has gone into transforming this space. It's especially lovely with the fireplace going.
This is a must-go for booze connoisseurs and a novel option for the rest of us. While I don't doubt the artistry that goes into crafting the cocktail recipes, I often find myself wondering if perhaps less is more- dare I say Albert Street Cocktail is trying too hard?
Service is not stellar, but is generally passable and won't matter if you're stopping in for one or two drinks. Their location in the Exchange makes this the perfect place to get your upscale buzz on before a show or concert.
This is touted as the first real cocktail bar in Winnipeg. It's been open for nearly 6 months and located in the Exchange in the former space where Mondragon used to operate out of. Their motto is "quality over quantity". The space is completely updated - it's hard to even remember Mondragon when you enter this place. The lounge has a very cool laid back slight hipster vibe. I love the tin ceilings that were maintained in this historic building, lots of seating from the long bar to tables and barstool height tables to come couches in front of the big fireplace and TV screen. The music is at the perfect volume - you can hear it and enjoy it but you can also have a great conversation.
The menu has two main sections - "house cocktails" and "vintage cocktails" with drinks ranging from $10-$13. There are cute symbols to the right of each drink description to show the type of glass the drink will be served in and a tasting symbol such as "citrus/bright", "long & lasting." There's also a selection of beers, wines (red/white/sparkling/fortified) and a very small section of snacks such as charcuterie ($14), popcorn ($3), almonds ($4), olives ($4), cheese board ($14) and jicama sticks ($3).
I had the "young summer" ($10) - pomegranate/lavender tea, infused gin, cointreau, lime, honey, orange bitters, mint and soda. The drink was noted as "citrus/bright" which it was but leaned on the sweet side for me. Also tried the old bay popcorn - which gives you a small bowl of popcorn with butter and bay leaf for $3. This was a nice snack, just wish there was more of it.
Service is friendly and laid back. I love this place and hope it does well. It's just a few steps from Shawarma Khan and a 2 min walk from Peasant Cookery and King's Head Pub. The signage is not the most obvious so look for "across the board cafe" which is located next door to Albert Street Cocktail. I loved the vibe and will definitley be back.
open:
Tuesday- Saturday: 4:00 pm - 2:00 am
The decor felt like forced. Like it wasn't being true to who it really was. The bartender was awesome and the drinks even better. Music was off-putting at first but fit well by the end of the night.
These people know their booze and they take it seriously. Best cocktail bar in town. Atmosphere is great, the setting and decor are perfect, and the liquor they use is top notch. Drinks on the menu are amazing, but if you don’t know what you want, tell them the kind of liquor you like and one of their very friendly bartenders will make you something delicious.
Follow them on Instagram — every week they have a specialty cocktail and they post a picture and the ingredients.
Didn't expect live music that night, it was indeed very loud though not entirely unpleasant. Drinks are a little pricey, but if you order it strong, let's just say they'll happily comply. The staff that night was lovely, though due to it being all new hires it was slow but handled well. A nice little hole in the wall, with high ceilings and wooden floors, Winnipeg feels more like a few cities over than right outside the doors
Best cocktail bar I have ever been to. Drinks are more than worth the price, and the wide variety of interesting, new and creative cocktails never gets boring. Place looks and feels super slick. Good alone or in a group, I tell people about this place the most when they ask what's good in Winnipeg.
Everything was excellent - however the poor server we had was run ragged and it took awhile to get drinks... no fault of her or the bar staff in the slightest. They had 1 server on for a packed restaurant, and two bartenders. Not nearly enough for a Saturday night.
Drinks were excellent. Will be back.
I was here a while back, but my bougie friends have said the service has gone downhill. Drinks were a solid 7.5-8/10 when I was here last (pretty good rating on my scale). I'm willing to go back and try again in hopes the service is back on par with the level of their drinks!
