I've been here many times over. The food quality is superb and the service is very good. Fresh sushi cannot be compared to cold sushi from grocery stores. I highly recommend this place for all ages, a great comfortable place to eat. Will return soon for the spicy crunch shrimp and volcano rolls!

It was my first time at Sushi Maru and it was great! The service was excellent and it was a very relaxed and comfortable dining experience. We had the spicy tuna, Philadelphia and Princess rolls as well as veggie tempura. The price is much lower than our regular faves. I can't wait to go back and try more sushi!
I've been here a handful of times and I would say it's my go-to sushi place in the area. It's quick, average prices I would say and the sushi is good. My favorite rolls are dynamite and BC. They also have a fried banana dessert that is delicious and green tea flavoured ice cream that I love.

About a year ago I had a bad day and posted a negative comment about Sushi Maru, and for that I apologize. The comment was unjust and I was just having a very bad day. I had totally forgot about the comment and continued to eat at Sushi Maru over the years. The owner is very kind, and is even kind enough to make me a special roll of my choice. I have ordered from this location hundreds of times because it is so delicious, they have some of the best Sushi Rolls in the entire city.
As someone who has taste tested almost every Sushi place in Winnipeg, and many other places in North America, I recommend Sushi Maru, and specifically the Teriyaki Alaska Roll, Spicy Crunch Roll, and the Angry Shrimp Roll. You will not be disappointed! The Agedashi Tofu is amazing too, with some Teriyaki sauce.

Real sushi at a good price. I am hardly ever in this part of the city but being a huge sushi fan I decided to give Sushi Maru a try. The sushi was excellent (better than most sushi places I've been to). To put this in perspective I eat sushi out once a week, every week and I have only revisited two other restaurants closer to my neighborhood. The food was ready in ten minutes. Service was really good. Very friendly and accommodating. The only downside is that it's located 40 minutes away from home. But next time I'm on Portage I will be making that return trip.
Love it!. My husband and I have been to many different sushi restaurants (cheaper ones and more expensive ones) in Winnipeg and sushi Maru is by far our favorite. Everyone there is lovely and nice, the food tastes amazing, you get a lot for a little amount and it's always fresh. We love the variety and also the size of the sushi rolls, many pieces but nice bite size pieces, not too big. We recommend sushi maru to all of our friends/family especially if they are new to sushi.
We waited 5 years to eat from our favourite sushi restaurant!! We lived in Winnipeg for 8 years and this was our go to spot!! But my husband is military so we got posted a few times but I wish this restaurant was in Brandon lol and spending a weekend in Winnipeg I told him we have to order from them and it was NOT disappointing!! Was sooooooo good!! Totally recommend this restaurant!! Luv this restaurant!!
Food was tasty. Haven't tried too many places to be able to compare but I enjoyed it and will go again or order out.
Went here yesterday and ordered 3 sets of Sushi. Very tasty, fresh and made with love, and the owners were very kind. I recommend this place.
Ordered pick up through skip the dishes. The order was ready on time and friendly greetings from the staff. The amount of assorted tempura was small, had a crispy texture though. Sushi rolls were a good size, I like the teriyaki sauce they used. The chicken katsu was okay, but I don't think I'd order it again. Overall, I'd order again, probably just sushi though.
