This is not a place for hipsters and people who like Boston pizzas bland cardboard pizza. I have been going here since it opened in the 70s and love the real and honest atmosphere. The food is always delisious and the environment is casual not stuck up phoney like a lot of places in Winnipeg. The portions are huge the sauces are authentic and delicious same goes for the veal and pasta. The bread sticks are amazing. Sure like others we have had some times were things were a bit off but who hasn't had a bad day. They used to include salad but because of the increasing cost of doing business they do not now. In a way a blessing because my wife and I would be full on breadsticks and salad and would take the main course home as we still take half of it home now. I hope they stick around for years to come too many good old resturaunts have disappeared and are replaced by soulless corporate shells of resturaunts full of soulless people with no taste buds. I am a old school guy who likes big portions and a place that feels comfortable where you come as you are . I care more about quality of the food served not how pretty it looks on a plate. Thanks Paradise for the many amazing meals you have served my family for over 30 years.

Came here for dinner on a weekday evening and was surprised how quiet it was. It was my first time coming to Paradise and really only knew about it after a recommendation from a co-worker. The restaurant is spacious though the renovations are somewhat dated.
We were greeted and seated promptly and the waitress was very attentive throughout our meal. We were brought a basket of rolls that were fresh out of the oven and very delicious! My wife kept commenting how the bread was piping hot which she then proceeded to eat a whole roll.
I wasn't particularly hungry so I ordered the a Paradise open faced sandwich with a side of house Italian salad. It seemed like the salad was tossed a bit too early and was somewhat soggy by the time it got to table, but the salad was well seasoned and the sandwich was very tasty. My wife enjoyed her chicken parm, she got it with a side of pasta with meat sauce. The noodle is cooked softer than most pasta places would so I wouldn't call it al dente. Strangely my wife likes softer noodles so she really enjoyed her entree.
Service was prompt and they were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely come back in the future if we're in the area.
I've eaten here many times and I've always left full and happy. All of the pastas are very tasty and the pizzas are excellent. The service is also top notch, I've never had a bad experience. This is one of those places that you should definitely give a try!
The Swizzle Styx dined here again this week (Oct6/16) and everything was excellent.
After driving past this restaurant for years thinking it was closed, I finally tried it out in July. We were expecting 6 people and were seated at a large 8 person table, but when 2 of our party didn't show up, the staff didn't make us feel like a burden for taking up half of a large table. Staff were very helpful with menu selection, when I couldn't choose between the tomato or cream sauce, he suggested to have both and go with the rose option not on the menu. I went with a ravioli dish and my partner chose the carbonara. The meal came with warm buns that were great for sopping up the sauce from the pastas. My meal was decadently perfect, although the carbonara wasn't as enjoyable because it was too bacony (not usually a problem), but the flavor was overpowering the dish. In general, I was impressed by the great service and generous portions.
I left impressed. Party of 8 tonight. I had the carbonara and everyone else had something else. Variety of choices. Portions were huge (almost too big) we had appys, two starter salads were enough for the table. Everyone had leftovers. Service was great. Our waitress was sassy and that worked perfect for our group. They were packed to the roof and still great service. Already want to go back.
I dined at Paradise for the first time yesterday evening and it was so good. There was five of us, and we made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arriving. The service throughout the evening was very good. Our server was very attentive, and had a sense of humour which made the experience more fun. When it came to the food, it was fabulous. Large portions, fresh italian pastas, presented nicely, awesome flavours. Such a great place to go if you are craving italian. The drink prices were very reasonable. The appetizers were so good, especially the what seemed to be neverending plate of calamari. Bruschetta and breadsticks were great. I would recommend this place to you if you want a nice meal at a good price. Glad I was invited to eat here.
I went with a group of 8 other people. It wasn't my choice of restaurant and after reading some reviews I have to say I went into it pretty leery. My first impression was that it was quite pricy so I opted to play it safe and stick with a personal pizza. I thought the service was pretty good. (Although it was practically empty). Breadsticks were a bit late to get to the table but were well worth the wait! Light, fluffy and fresh out of the oven! Entrees came not too long after that and I have to say that I was quite pleased with my pizza. Crust was just right...light and not too doughy. I noticed looking around the table that although prices seemed steep...they certainly didn't skimp on portion sizes! Everyone at my table seemed pleased with their meals and there was quite a variety. All in all it was an anticipated bad experience that turned out to be quite enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised.

My go to for pizza. I've probably tried every pizza place in Winnipeg over the years, but Paradise on Portage usually delivers a pretty stellar pie. Quality toppings. Crust has always been good for me but i do notice the not so impressed reviewers below. The sauce is tangy and usually in the right amount and cheese is always present.
I sometimes ask for " well done" and they keep it in the oven a little longer which i really like. An XL Double pep runs you 20 bucks or so on a pick up order , which in my opinion is pretty damn good considering taste, size and quality.
As far as their other dishes go, i have limited experience but i would recommend staying away from their Fried Mushroom " app for 8.95. I could swear they were canned mushrooms and did not live up to the price in the least.
Only other negative to add is that the service isn't always spectacular even just when i'm in to pick up pizza. I have found myself waiting 5 minutes or more to be attended to on a frequent basis. Smiles are also hard to come by apparently.
7.5 /10 on the pizza. 6/10 on everything else.
Dinner for 20. I just attended for the first time at Paradise for a function for 20.
Everyone was pleased with their meals including salads and those fantastic bread sticks.
All meals arrived hot and beautifully presented.
The portions are huge.
Next time I would order only one entree along with the excellent salad accompaniment for a couple.
The service was understated but efficient and friendly.
The atmosphere quiet and clean.
We will be back!
I used to eat lunch at least twice a week when I worked next door. I went to Wpg. and I was blown away that they remember me. I love their pizza. They have an excellent paradise salad with a very interesting and very flavourful dressing. They make wonderful breaksticks. It felt like going home today. Great customer service as always! Everyone should go to this great restaurant!!!!!!

PS. Tried multiple lunch take outs but dine in experience was better.
First time coming here with my co workers and I ordered the "All Meat" pizza and it did not disappoint! The staff is responsive, entertaining and helped one of my coworkers to order a custom pasta. While waiting for our order, he gave us free bread, hot and fresh from the oven which is an awesome start. When I got my order, it was fully loaded, quite filling and not salty like other pizzas. It was reasonably priced at 12$ too. My coworkers equally liked the pasta and salad. BTW, ambience is also good and the restaurant is clean but a little bit from dim lighted. I would recommend this restaurant for sure!

Wow, wow, wow nice large portions sizes. I had the ribs with pasta. It was sooòoooo good. I'll be back. Oh and our waitress was great as well, funny, witty. This place gets a 6 out of 5 stars, it was just that good
Portions are large and the food is delicious. They were out of milk when I ordered my drink but they were able to quickly buy some and prepare my drink fast. The atmosphere isn't amazing and there was a beeping going off the entire time. Service was decent and friendly.
Very good service! Our server was kind and joking with us through our meal, but also not disturbing us. The food was to die for! My girlfriend and I ordered one plate of baby back ribs, which came with spaghetti and bread sticks. Let me tell you that that meal for one definitely filled us both up! Very good for our money and for our stomachs!
