Just coming home to Kingston from Jays game and decided to stop and eat at Pete's Big Bite in Whitby. Great tasting food. I had the tasty Big bite 1/2 pound burger and my wife had the Philly cheese steak which was really good too. Very friendly staff. One of the staff even brought me over a very tasty milk shake after I saw him taking pictures of the milkshake and said how good it looked.Great food, great service and interesting atmosphere. You won't be disappointed. I'll be back with the family next time.
I've been to Pete's twice now and can't wait to return. Today I had the 911 burger (1 pounder) and it was amazing. Cooked perfectly and hit the spot! Fries and gravy are also amazing and cannot wait to return to try out other options on the menu. I Definatly recommend this gem of a burger joint.
I had lunch here with a friend last week. I ordered the Blues Burger - 6oz burger w/ peameal bacon, blue cheese sauce, and swiss cheese. The burger itself was tasty but the extras really made it pop! The bun was really good too. All around great burger.
Went there for the first time last week and noticed the 50's look theme of the restaurant which I loved!. Place is clean, no dust bunnies around and same goes for the bathroom. Told Peter i was in the mood for a good big juicy burger. Placed the order and had a seat till I was asked what I wanted on my burger. The toppings are all fresh and they are very generous with them. Burger was awesome, juicy, cooked to perfection and a bit of a crisp to the exterior of it, the onions rings are BIG, crispy and delicious, the poutine was excellent, it had a perfect gravy to cheese ratio. The gravy is also really good as it has the old school diner flavor to it. While I was eating my food, Peter asked how everything was as he walked by, something you would not expect in a burger joint, and 5 minutes later a line cook also stopped to ask how everything was. This just shows the care and attention they pay to their customers. After eating, i did not have that bloated disgusting feeling that one would think you would have after having a meal at a burger joint, i felt 100% fine and mobile!! All in all i had a great first experience and will be looking forward to many more.
Good burger. Friday evenings in spring-summer-fall, you will find two to three dozen classic and/or performance cars in the parking lot. It makes for an interesting atmosphere to eat outside. There are only two small tables, but they don't mind if you take your tray and meal further outside, as long as you bring the tray back. This being my first visit, I decided to try Pete's 6 oz. burger with cheese. It was very nicely done, cooked thoroughly, hot and juicy. The bun almost held up to the end. There is a fairly wide selection of toppings and sauces. I tried the "Dr. Pepper" (as in soft drink) BBQ sauce, which had a nice tang and spice balance. I can't say that I really tasted any Dr. Pepper in it. I will go back and try other items and toppings and perhaps one of the (what appeared to be popular) smoothies to drink.
The fried mars bar is amazing!
AMAZING!! Burgers are fantastic and the chili dogs are excellent!! Have to try a steak melt. Pete is always welcoming and his food is all great! Make sure you try the peach/mango shake!
Best bugers ever, never thought a burger could taste that good
Amazing burgers. Got the Fire Hall burger combo and it came loaded with bacon that was perfectly cooked. It was soooo good! Fries were nice and crispy without being overcooked and the gravy was excellent. Had the brownie sundae for dessert which is brownies with chocolate soft serve and chocolate sauce. A chocolate lover’s dream!
We have been here a few times since moving to the area and we are never disappointed. The last time we had the big bite burger and I couldn't finish it, so this time I ordered the 4 oz and it was perfect. The place has a great vibe and was busy! The customer service everytime we have been here has been outstanding!
Pete was lovely and treated everyone who came in like family he even knew some of the customers names.
This is definitely our go to place for burgers and fries.
The prices were excellent and I believe cheaper than fast food places. We ordered cheese on all our burgers and it covered the burger from edge to edge.
The food was cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a great burger you won't be disappointed.
The pictures don't do it justice!
As an American visiting Canada, I approve 😁. Food was delicious and love the atmosphere of the dining room. I enjoyed the burger I ordered. I also had a hot dog a few weeks ago that was amazing. My wife got the poutine and a salad and she loved it.
Did someone say soft-serve ice cream as well? My inner child can't say no to that. Overall great experience and friendly staff. We will be back! Love it.
Stopped by for a quick lunch with the kids and this place didn’t disappoint. We had to order before sitting down and it gets overwhelming with all of the options and choices for the burgers they have especially that they ask you what you want on it as well after (so be sure to know what you want on it in addition to what it comes with lol). Ordered the Cowboy burger, Bad boy burger, and two kids burgers for the kids. The burgers were all great (next time I’ll try the one pound burger and less toppings to see the quality of the meat) but it didn’t fall short of expectations..gave me the diner vibes. The kids enjoyed their meals but next time maybe split a combo as it was a bit much for them, the poutine was great here as well, clean and solid diner will be back..the total cost for food was just under $60.
I've driven past Pete's Big Bite several times and always meant to drop in and try their food. It was finally time! A foodie friend had arranged a meetup with fellow foodies.
This place has a very retro vibe to it, kinda like an old fashioned drive in. They have a few booths inside, along with a few high-top tables, and soda fountain style stools at a counter. They also have checkered floors and a car theme going on with the decor. Very retro. Very cool! Oh, they also have tables outside on a makeshift patio. Nice!
Most of us had burgers, of course, one added a poutine, and another had a salad. We all got an ice cream sundae to finish this great tasting meal!
The burgers were big, juicy, very tasty, and loaded with bacon - some had peameal, others had strips. They were generously dressed the way we liked. The fries were nice and crispy and came with gravy. Nice!
The chunky Greek salad was good, dressed with olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, and large pieces of feta.
The poutine with pulled pork was generously dressed with cheese curds and gravy. I should have stolen a taste! Next time.
This was a good outing. It was nice to meet other foodies - people with similar interests. The food was really good, and so was the service. I'll definitely be back!
Note: This review was not solicited by Pete's Big Bite. We paid for our meals.
4oz homemade burger great fries gravy&a drink in the combo under $15. Worth the drive from pickering. Great view too
It sad when you find a spot like this that has been around for 70 years, and you wonder why didn’t I know about this place!?!?
Great food great service. Highly recommend!
First time here and the young man behind the counter and the adorable older gentleman were super sweet! Order was fast and hot. Burgers - amazing!!! Fries - not a big fan of as they were a bit hard, Philly sandwich - too many peppers and too little beef but tasted ok. We would definitely go back for a burger. :)
