It's food court Japanese, not fine cuisine, but it's decent and the price is right. Surprisingly good tempura veg. Friendly service.
Love This Family Owned Restaurant...ten years and counting!. When I visit a restaurant, two things I insist on: Fresh food in sparkling clean surroundings. And Little Tokyo delivers on both counts.
I’ve been visiting Little Tokyo since a dedicated and professional family took over ten years ago. One of the things I love about it is the cleanliness. It is sparkling clean and the food is prepared right out in the open with meticulous care.
Tucked away in a corner of the Admiral’s Walk Shopping Center in Victoria, a mother and daughter team work tirelessly six-days a week to provide the freshest and tastiest fast food Sushi and piping-hot Tappanyaki food in View Royal. (Dine in —Take out).
Don’t be deceived by the term “fast food” and its implications. This friendly duo prepares your meal to order right in front of you and you may be surprised at the variety of dishes they whip up; from Seafood Udon soup to fresh sushi rolls and an exhaustive list of Nigiri and Hand Cones (Tamaki) (from $2.25) along with succulent Teppan chicken, beef and seafood dishes hot off the grill. I notice they also have a colourful array of party trays for take-out.
My favourite dish —which I brought home tonight — is the Teriyaki Chicken (Large with Prawns. $8.25 + $2.75 extra for the prawns.) For .50 I substituted noodles for the standard rice. Again it was delicious. The Teriyaki Hawaiian Chicken is another favourite of mine.
I added some Spring Rolls (4) with sweet plum sauce and honestly I overdid it. I dined alone and the meal, which cost about $15.25, was more than enough for two. Not only does this restaurant deliver on the tastiest food and service; the value is unsurpassed.
Although I’ve spent a lifetime in the restaurant business I admit I’m no connoisseur of sushi per se but I know when I’m eating something fresh and flavourful and here Little Tokyo excels. I have an Asian friend who visits occasionally from Taiwan. He has enjoyed sushi in Japan, Uganda, Hong Kong and Macau. He is arriving in November and he tells me Little Tokyo is once again top of his lunch list.
I highly recommend this restaurant. It is well worth a visit and I wish this family another successful ten years in business — they deserve it.
PS: I notice from some comments posted here that the competition in the area isn't too happy with the success of this little gem. Well you know the old adage: "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen..."
Service was really friendly, and the price was good.
I ordered a Assorted Sushi Tray. It worths the price. Can’t expect superior taste though.
