Review Little Tokyo - Victoria

Service was really friendly, and the price was good. I ordered a Assorted Sushi Tray. It worths the price. Can’t expect superior taste though.

Awesome little family-run Japanese spot. Fast, friendly, reasonably-priced, and delicious.

Little Tokyo is a hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant (that is currently only doing take-out due to COVID-19). They are FANTASTIC, but I do recommend that you call ahead to place your order! This all only came to $54 after tax. (My partner and I ordered too much!)

They did a great job of taking my random order of rolls for my kids party into two really nice party trays.

Fantastic and fresh food. The tempura was unexpectedly excellent. Far from downtown, Little Tokyo may be overlooked by many but it absolutely has some of the city's best Japanese fare. Not to be missed by anyone looking for authentic Japanese food!

The sushi is really good for ‘fast food’ What they can improve on is the price. Both the website and menu photos are all the old prices.. Coming from living in Vancouver where it’s incredibly cheap to get 4 rolls for $10 here you’re lucky to get 2 rolls for $12. Please update your website and online google menu to reflect what the prices are now 😁👍🏼

Delicious healthy Asian food cooked right in front of you while you wait. Quick friendly service. Take out or eat in. Very clean and bright atmosphere and convenient location. We will visit again or order take out.

Use to eat here regularly when I worked in the neighborhood. Food is good, priced well, and service is great. Recently went back for old time sake. Still great food and they remembered me.

My family loves eating at this restaurant! They have the friendliest and most helpful staff plus their restaurant is clean and inviting. Their teriyaki sauce is THE BEST in Victoria so we never go to other Japanese restaurants because Little Tokyo is #1! Their soups, sushi, and cooked meals are delicious with large portions and quality ingredients. Now having recently become vegans, we weekly get take-out of their tasty Tofu Teriyaki on rice. I can’t recommend them enough! 10/10!!

Not only was the service amazing, it was fast and the food was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend this place! The atmosphere was nice. I ordered Chicken teriyaki rolls and Beef teriyaki rolls, just mmmmmmm I'll definitely be going back ASAP

Our absolute favourite for Teppan. The staff is super friendly, always remember our faces and greet us warmly, and the food always hits the spot. This is a family restaurant our community should support.

New owner has improved service and quality of food. Super friendly and decent prices for the amount of food you get. Great place for take out😀 Highly recommended.

I had the vegetable bento box. It had grilled tofu on rice with teriyaki sauce, I tiny bit of lettuce only, with some sauce on it. No miso soup which I was hoping for. Small meal, but very tasty and filling. A little pricey for what you receive.

Had yam roll sushi and it was fantastic! Fresh, warm, inexpensive and very yummy! I will definitely go back when I'm in the area! :)

Big improvements under new management! Lovely take out/eat in restaurant. Food is fresh, tasty and their special homeade teriyaki sauce is to die for. Great food and impressive service for a wonderful low price!
Highly suggest this gem!

It's food court Japanese, not fine cuisine, but it's decent and the price is right. Surprisingly good tempura veg. Friendly service.

LOVE IT!!. I am shocked to see so many negative reviews! From personal experience, this is the best sushi bar in Victoria. For the prices, they jam pack them full of stuff, I am always ecstatic with my purchase, and so is my husband. We haven't had a bad experience from them and we've been ordering there for many years, and many more to come. My husband has probably tried everything on the menu and it's always top notch. It sad to hear bad reviews though if you've had a bad experience then i'm sorry that was the case for you! Maybe give it another shot?

-----29 Dec, 2014-----

Love it. I'm shocked to see negative reviews on little Tokyo! It is my absolute favorite sushi resteraunt of all victoria. I order from
Them regularly and my favorite of all time is the veggie roll, it's low cost and delicious without soaking everything in vinegar and completely destroying your sinuses like some places do. My husband has tried out plenty of their dishes and never has had a bad experience....

Not good.... But not terrible either. Had salad roll and dynamite combo. Yam tempura (and prawn in the dynamite roll) had a batter that wasn't light enough so it burnt a little. The salad roll's dipping sauce was pure hoi sin, and the miso soup was anemic.

Won't recommend.

Love This Family Owned Restaurant...ten years and counting!. When I visit a restaurant, two things I insist on: Fresh food in sparkling clean surroundings. And Little Tokyo delivers on both counts.

I’ve been visiting Little Tokyo since a dedicated and professional family took over ten years ago. One of the things I love about it is the cleanliness. It is sparkling clean and the food is prepared right out in the open with meticulous care.

Tucked away in a corner of the Admiral’s Walk Shopping Center in Victoria, a mother and daughter team work tirelessly six-days a week to provide the freshest and tastiest fast food Sushi and piping-hot Tappanyaki food in View Royal. (Dine in —Take out).

Don’t be deceived by the term “fast food” and its implications. This friendly duo prepares your meal to order right in front of you and you may be surprised at the variety of dishes they whip up; from Seafood Udon soup to fresh sushi rolls and an exhaustive list of Nigiri and Hand Cones (Tamaki) (from $2.25) along with succulent Teppan chicken, beef and seafood dishes hot off the grill. I notice they also have a colourful array of party trays for take-out.

My favourite dish —which I brought home tonight — is the Teriyaki Chicken (Large with Prawns. $8.25 + $2.75 extra for the prawns.) For .50 I substituted noodles for the standard rice. Again it was delicious. The Teriyaki Hawaiian Chicken is another favourite of mine.

I added some Spring Rolls (4) with sweet plum sauce and honestly I overdid it. I dined alone and the meal, which cost about $15.25, was more than enough for two. Not only does this restaurant deliver on the tastiest food and service; the value is unsurpassed.

Although I’ve spent a lifetime in the restaurant business I admit I’m no connoisseur of sushi per se but I know when I’m eating something fresh and flavourful and here Little Tokyo excels. I have an Asian friend who visits occasionally from Taiwan. He has enjoyed sushi in Japan, Uganda, Hong Kong and Macau. He is arriving in November and he tells me Little Tokyo is once again top of his lunch list.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is well worth a visit and I wish this family another successful ten years in business — they deserve it.

PS: I notice from some comments posted here that the competition in the area isn't too happy with the success of this little gem. Well you know the old adage: "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen..."

Disappointing...everytime. I work in the area and go out for lunch about once a week, I love sushi and frequent many of the restaurants in the greater Victoria area, given the cafeteria style I didn't have high expectations for this place but the prices were good and I thought I'd give it a try it was disappointing the first time and I remember thinking I hope I don't get sick from this (which I didn't). A few months later I was with a guest who wanted to try it and I thought sure why not maybe it was just an off day. My spicy tuna roll was disgusting I was really hungry but could only bring myself to finish one of the oddly triangle shaped pieces as the texture was gooey and the "spicy" ketchup mayo sauce was such a bad combo with the fish, my miso soup was off I think it must come from a package and is very salty. The Gyoza was not bad but was deep fried not pan fried and is also strangely salty. After walking past about 30 times I decided on a whim why not try it again and get something different, it does always seem to have people in it so maybe it is not really that bad...I ordered an Udon noodle soup because I wanted something warm and didn't trust the raw fish situation and yet again very disappointing, the Udon noodles actually made me gag...the veggies were the only decent part of the soup and there were not very many. My table was sticky and there was a piece of food with hair on it left over from last customer and I reminded myself no the third time is not a charm. I will never go back

This place is going downhill quickly. We usually order once a week from this place just so we don't cook 7 days a week. Their Udon soup broth has been more and more watery for weeks.Had the worst meal from there ever yesterday. My daughters cone was inedible, she said it tasted like tea, my Miso soup smelled off when I lifted the lid and tasted even worse. My roll was okay, the tempura was ok but they charged me for a roll and we did not get it. The woman behind the counter was very hard to communicate with, English was a struggle. We are not going back anytime soon.

Good sushi in a hurry. We drop by Little Tokyo quite regularly when we go grocery shopping at the Thriftys in the shopping centre. Food is good and quick, and the staff are friendly. While it is not my favorite sushi place in Victoria, it is consistently good and a great place to have a quick lunch.

Great small sushi place. L.... Great small sushi place.
Linch special is a variety of teriyaki with shrimp or prawns with a drink.
9 bucks.
Spicy roll and nigiri are good. Good qaulity.
