We started by looking at the set up of the historical info of the government house and some local cultural stuff then, Enjoyed a lovey light lunch with my friend... the servers were attentive and such a relaxing atmosphere, followed by a beautiful walk in the gardens..

I've lived here in Victoria for over 2 decades, and just found out about this tea room! And let me tell you ... this hidden gem did not disappoint. We had family visiting for a few days and toured around the grounds of Government House, which are immaculately maintained and absolutely beautiful. We stopped in for a quick bite to eat, not really expecting anything special, and were blown away by the variety on the menu. The Ham and Cheese quiche is definitely something to write home about ... also comes with the choice of the daily soup or salad ... and even prepared with a gluten-free crust. And I can't forget the Buddha Bowl, which at some establishments can be a little lacklustre, but here it is chock full of all the fixings! Staff were friendly and service was prompt without being overbearing. We had a fantastic experience overall between touring the gardens and the tea room, and can only offer our full compliments. We will be back again soon!

A lovely repast after touring the magnificent grounds around Government House. Friendly staff made sure our dog had water. The hot roast beef sandwich was delicious, as was the strawberry tart.

The tea room was fantastic the first few years it was open. Now it has become much more expensive and the menu even as of last year was much better. I still go and still enjoy it but I miss the times when it was not touristy and reasonably priced. I'd still recommend it but mostly now because of the grounds. I must admit I admire the volunteers who help there and the Tuesday morning plant sale. Update 2022 - post covid, the menu is now limited, closes end of August and only open 3 days a week so always check their web site. Food is still excellent. Now called Rudi's

I was a little surprised when we went for tea at Cary news as I was expecting more of a high tea kind of menu. However the food that was prepared for us was beyond expectations. I was very impressed by the home brewed ice tea. We also had their desert of the day and the only issue was it wasn't really for sharing. This is because it was so good I didn't want to share. The volunteers we're super friendly and extremely helpful. I will definitely be going back and bringing friends.

I came here with some good friends to celebrate my 22nd birthday and had a truly splendid time! The Tea House has a variety of Silkroad teas and creates fasinating italian sodas. The overall aesthetic of the cafe was fairly rustic, but the food was decent in quality and portions. The staff and volunteers truly helped to make this an amazing experience with their truly warm hospitality. The costume museum is right next door and a great place to stop by to see some breath taking garments. Last, but not least, the gardens surrounding the Governor's House offers fresh air and stunning surroundings. The friends definitely made the experience even better, I would totally come back!

This is a wonderful spot to have tea and lunch. The prices are low and the food is actually awesome. This place is run by volunteers but the service is excellent - even better than some restaurants! Highly recommended for a summertime lunch.
