The food is dank. The prices are totally reasonable. It's probably the best affordable restaurant in Fernwood. Cheap pints of beer to top it off~

I discovered this place 2 days ago and today I went back.
Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in Victoria. Food is ammmmazing, it brings you strength to Mexico, simple but delicious. Cocktails are fantastic too, highly recommend the hibiscus margarita 💖
Service is top notch, super friendly and always with a smile.

We stopped by this little, local shop for our last meal before returning home. The street it sits on has easily available parking for up to 2.5 hours for free. There are murals on the sides of nearby buildings and it has a very cozy, neighborhood feel.
There is fascinating artwork on the wall, which can keep you engaged for longer than the wait for the food, which was very little.
We each ordered a burrito bowl due to allergies. The bowl was massive. You could easily feed three people with the amount of food in there. It was filled with rice, cilantro, Pico, fresh made beans, pork and more. Fresh, simple food equals good flavor and a full tummy. It was also steaming hot, which was nice on a cold, drizzly day.
We drank water...which was good and clean tasting (no metal or salt aftertaste as a few places have had).
We ate fairly quickly as we arrived the last hour before they close and didn't want to keep them. If I had the opportunity to take home the leftovers, I would gladly have done so. As is, we were staying at a nearby Air B&B, so I didn't have the opportunity. We briefly spoke with who I believe is the owner and he was friendly, genuine and caring. We discussed the center art piece. He says it's from an artist in the US, depicting the steel mill employee in Detroit. That was interesting to learn.
There is limited seating inside, but the care with which the food is made and the friendly company will bring me back again. I wish them well.
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining here on Saturday (Dec 2). I have a wheat allergy, so it was wonderful to be able to order almost anything from the menu knowing that the majority of it was gluten-free. We each enjoyed a hibiscus margarita, Yum!, and we shared the pork enchiladas and boneless ribs. I can’t even get over how delicious these meals were! The flavors were perfect, as were the portions! The service was excellent, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. 100% recommend and we will be back!!
Delicious Mexican lunch and refreshing guava/grapefruit drink on a warm summers day. Loved sitting outside on the patio taking in the charm of the slow paced community of Fernwood (Victoria, BC). Large portions and such good value.
We missed the enchiladas, but in this place we found excellent sauces and enchiladas!
Just had the most amazing experience dining at Mesa. The margaritas were excellent, the food was amazing! Super easy to make reservations online. Also they had a huge rotating specials board and we got to try a roasted cumin cauliflower for an appy this evening. Our server was so friendly and service was so quick. I went home with a very full belly and can't wait to go back! Awesome vegetarian options too!
The salsa was good! I prefer chunky guacamole over more smooth one, the flavour has strong pepper taste in it which I didn’t like it that much. The enchiladas were ok good not too much flavour. Kinda disappointed at the pork stew cuz the meat is some sort of preserved smoked meat which is too salty for me. The flavour of the stew is good tho!
Really love this restaurant! I’ve had the smothered burritos and they are unreal. They also have a cute happy hour with palomas which were incredible. All the meats we’ve tried have been incredible. I can’t remember the name of one but it was like a pulled beef and it was next level. Highly recommend this spot!
Edit: this is one of the best things you can order on skip the dishes! Nicely done. Pork carnitas enchiladas with black beans and rice. Couldn't eat it all!
Will be back to try more of the menu! Enchiladas were awesome! Hibiscus margaritas! It was hard to choose what to eat because couldn't see the Blackboard from where we sat and the server didn't know the fresh sheet. Its awkward. Basically have to take a picture with your phone or stand in the middle of the room staring at the board.
Relaxed atmosphere, great food and drink options. Can't wait to go back.
