King’s Cafe

I never write reviews, but I thought it would be worth my time to make an account and post here about how great the customer service was at this cafe. I've come here a few times before and enjoyed their coffee and teas, and it's a great place to bring a laptop and really focus on getting work done (no spotty WiFi). 

Today, I had an outstanding experience today when I walked up to the counter to ask whether or not they could make me the King's Panini Sandwich (half) with salami - but with no bread. I'm currently on a low-carb diet and have difficulty finding food in restaurants that can accommodate me, but I was feeling hungry after a few hours of working away and a coffee just wasn't cutting it. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, and no harm done if it wasn't possible.

I wasn't sure if they could pull it off, but after a few ideas passed around, they decided that they would try it out by turning the ingredients of the panini into a salad! They brought it out and I was pretty floored by the amount of effort and presentation that went into my obviously stupid request for a sandwich cafe. It fit my dietary needs perfectly and tasted great to boot. I was having a chat with the gentleman who made my dish for me, and he was perfectly sweet and friendly, checking in to see if it was tasty as I scarfed everything down in two minutes. 

So big shout out to King's Cafe for going above and beyond my expectations - I love it when I see people excel in helping others. Coming back for sure!

Kings Café on Kingsway, just nine months ago, was raking in only $50/day. Do the numbers and you’ll realize they were serving a sparse crowd of around twenty per day.
It just goes to show: running a café can be a precarious business, definitely no easy feat in this coffee town. How to keep up? By innovating and evolving. And in this case, it’s about approaching your business as more than a no-frills coffee shop.

I am glad that I could find a modern and cozy coffee shop on Kingsway or East Vancouver. The interior design and ambiance are similar to the ones in downtown Vancouver or Vancouver west.

I ordered an almond croissant and a latte for breakfast. The latte was above average but it was still not the best like the ones I had at Le Marche St. George, Timbertrain and platform 7. There could still be improvement on the latte here. Almond croissant was okay but not the best ones I had at Thomas Haas (double baked almond croissant) and Timbertrain. The server told me that their bakery goods and pastries were ordered from somewhere else. They did not bake them at this coffee shop.

This was not the first time I had a coffee and breakfast here. Their panini and sandwiches were quite good. If I am in this neighbourhood again, I would like to go to this coffee shop instead of Tim Hortons or Starbucks.
